For me, without a shadow of a doubt, the best Dominican music era was the 80's. In my opinion, the Dominican Republic will never have so many talented musicians 'gathered' in a particular decade. Back in the 80's, I thought there were more orquestas/combos than habitants, LOL, and hits after hits after hits were recorded. Nowadays, you are lucky if you get 2-3 hits out of a recorded CD, back then, at leat 7-8 out of 10 songs, TO ME, were hits. Alex Bueno, Carlos David, Johnny Ventura, Musiquito, Anibal Bravo, Rasputin, El Zafiro, Fernandito Villalona, Dioni Fernandez, Cuco Valoy, Ramon Orlando, Wilfrido Vargas, Las Chicas Del Can, Los Kenton, Sandy Reyes, Belkis Concepcion, Aramis Camilo y la Organizacion Secreta.......and the list goes on and on and on. What's your favourite era?.....and do you remember some specific songs?. Edited on 12/16/2009 9:54 AM by TuPapaupa. I am "An Army Of One" ![]() Come Get Some!!. |

If our country wants to recover its dignity, it will necessarily have to cast aside the good-for-nothing and only-fit-for-mentally-challenged-people reguetón and rescue the good ole merengue back to its former glory.
