No, when referring to each other as red meaning "red bone" or yellow "yellow bone" is merely a "black slang "to refer to a light-skinned AFRO-AMERICAN.

When referring to each other as "indio" skin complexion, it is merely cultural term to refer to each other as a light-skinned Dominican :O)

Puerto Ricans call themselves "Boricua" which is a word of native origin going back to Borinken's indigenous past.

In reality though, how many Puerto Ricans today have indigenous blood running through their veins?

Not more than those who have European or even African blood I'll tell you that much.

But a Puerto Rican is still referred to as "Boricua", even if he has no actual Taino blood and even if he's the blackest or whitest of the bunch.

Again, it's a cultural facet of PR culture.
