All the Dominicans, rich or poor, that are stealing electricity. 57% of the generated electricity in this Country is stolen. 2.) The Government that is way to lean on this Thieves. If they would address this Issue in a serious matter and cut off entire streets and barrios of this stealing crooks they would never be elected again for the next 200 years. Please share your views ! The fact that so much people steal electricity and so much people steal government funds has become part of the culture. That, and the fact that here we get used to it and it's just "normal". While this might be true, it doesn't make our case any less annoying or embarrassing. If this country really wants to have a prayer on the way to development, it really needs to shed this "but-other-people-have-the-same-problems" kind of mentality. Gizmoe Agreed but Dominicans that post in this forum are the most disgruntled human beings in the world i have ever encountered. The fact is there's places in this world that are worst off than D.R., just imagine living in Yemen in the middle of the desert with the unbearable heat no water and no electricity. The closest source for water is a pump located 15 miles away, you're school about 10 miles from you're small village, now that's bad try topping that situation and it can get worst in other places. |

Observed wisely. That's why it is as it is. But it's not that easy: Money is stolen in the CDE's. Electricity is stolen by whomsoever. Meters are demolished in riots ("huelgas" ) by thugs who don't pay "la luz" anyhow. Power lines are often stolen by the very ones who installed them. People who pay their invoices don't get electricity as they should. The government dishes out low consumption bulbs free. People don't care about their power consumption because they don't pay for it anyway. It's chaos. It's the DR. m'frog Edited on 7/17/2009 10:16 PM by mountainfrog. You must be referring to a 'gringo' customer... In that case the illegal hookup is 'merecido' and only a 'prestamo'.... m'frog Everything goes its Caribbean way. www.dr101.info |
