The border wall must come up! Between Dominican Rep. & Haiti
RE: The border wall must come up! Between Dominican Rep. & Haiti
This is the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The main problem here is basically the Dominican side of the border has to be cleared of it's population and towns and municipalities that fall near the Haitian border, atleast by a 15 miles to 20 miles distance. The commercialization of goods has to cease between the two country's in the border. These sellers and merchants should be inside of Haiti not in the border, if the border wall is to be erected. The border area should be a heavy militarized zone if we want the problem of illegal Haitians entering the country to subside.

THIS LOOKS LIKE TRADE TO ME. ARE YOU SAYING THAT TRADE BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES SHOULD END?

Gizmoe Yes the selling of goods should end in the border area. The merchandising should be done inside of Haiti, Dominicans are not the ones crossing illegaly to Haiti on the contrary Haitians are the ones entering massively into the Dominican Republic illegaly. The border has to be cleared of merchants, sellers and buyers.

I was just on the border area 2 weeks ago, Dominicans do cross into Haiti. I was part of a Dominican team surveying border activity. I personally counted about 66 dominicans crossing into Haiti. Most of them women. Currently there is a large Brasilian Military presence in Haiti and these Dominicans serve these soilders and other personnel.

President Fernandez does not want the border militarized in the manner you proposed. This will send the wrong message to the rest of world. There are millions of Haitians living in the D.R. legally and illegaly. Placing a border wall similar to the Berlin Wall will cut these Haitians off from their families. This may seem alright for you, but not the rest of the civilized world.

This is what's wrong with the border too much easy access. The merchandising should go on inside of Haiti, afterall it is Haitians that are buying these cheap products to be later used in Haiti. The Dominican goverment is an irresponsible entity to allow this from continuing.

Gizmo Well soon that wall will have to come up... I know that Leonel Fernandez and the PLD wont do anything because he's incapable of doing the right thing. But sooner than later that partition wall has to be erected and militarized to the teeth... As for Dominicans crossing the border mr. Brasilenos really mr. Haitiano fronting as always as something that you're not who are you trying to fool here... Those Dominicans are not going to stay in that cesspool of abject poverty and disease called Haiti i guarantee you that!

The same could be said about the wall that the US is erecting on its mexican border, yet I don't see the so called "civilized world" crying foul. Why the heck should we act like gentlemen when the big brothers up north are behaving like damned animals on this issue, if it's not so much to ask?
