The country is executing a plan to modernize infrastructure, transportation, infuse technology, reform health and education, and provide a better standard of living for its citizens. We are the economic leader and force in the Caribbean and one of the most dynamic economies in Latin America. We still have a lot of developing and reforming to do but we are on a path of advancement. Many people envy and hate the fact that the Dominican Republic has advance so much and is continuing to press on with full force. These countries or people that continue to attack and demean us are the very ones that can't fend for themselves. These are the ones that continually seek to use excuses and blame others for there FAILURES. These people have managed continual baseless campaigns against the integrity of the Dominican Republic with the help of NGO's, the international community with their own governmental ineptitude and their inherited innate hate for the Dominican Republic, with the sole purpose of lowering our country's credibilty and tarnishing the image of our people. I say to my fellow Dominicans, don't fall for the bait. We are a hard-working group of people who continue to push our country forward, regardless of our short-comings and circumstances, we continue to develop and progress. The DR is able to work with every country in the world because the DR is truly an open society with peace and progressive ideals. We as Dominicans are the the multi-cultural Mecca of the Americas (A specimen of what the USA has become). We live in harmony and are ideologically advanced when it comes to race relations. We are the heart and soul of the Caribbean and the heart and soul of the Americas. Our beloved captial, Santo Domingo, blends old-world colonial shrines like the grandiest colonial zone in the Americas with the modern comforts of a Cosmopolitan city. Here is where the Americas all started. We are Dominicans, we are the heart and soul of multi-culturalism in the Americas. We come from the blessed land of the Dominican Republic. A place filled with hard-working, amicable people who are full of life and an undying desire to progress. Difficult challenges are faced day-to-day here, as the country continues to suffer from power outages, lack of employment, healthcare services, poor infrastructure, among other basic needs which has forced many to leave the island's shores in search of greater opportunities. Although, many leave, the desire to return is very prevalent and numerous Dominicans do comeback successfully. Once abroad, they earn a greater love and appreciation for their homeland. Despite the country's short-comings, nestled in the heart of the Caribbean, lies the multi-cultural Mecca of the Americas, a true paradise with a uniquely Dominican experience. Post was inspired by Vin Diesel: "The Dominican Republic is the Mecca of Multi-culturalism in the Americas. That's why I can identify with it." Edited on 8/2/2009 10:40 PM by ny4life. |

If nobody opposes you, then you are not doing anything worth while. |

I would only say maybe take 'other countries' out of the first paragraph and instead fill in 'other people' as you say later. if you don't someone will come in and challenge you over that and while you can never prove that an entire other country feels this way, no one could look around at the numerous hateful guests on this board and challenge that 'many people' have a problem with us. |
