DR is the heart and soul of the Americas. Geographically and Historical !

Yes you have a point, but only to Dominicans and perhaps to those history aficionados who understand the contributions of the Dominican Republic to the western hemisphere. But to the rest of the world listening to this we fall very short. So that it's laughable by anyone not in touch with Dominican culture and society and those who are cultured and well traveled. Dominican Republic? where, who? really!!!

We have to be real. Though we wish and want to be, we are not. We have a long way to go.

A long way to go to impress who? Dr is what it is. No need to be apologetic about it.

Ciby I didnt say anything about impressing. I stated clearly that we are a long way to claim any title of being at the heart and Soul of the caribbean.

But considering you have implied that impressions are insignificant then I will defend the significance of "impression(s)" as it pertains to DR being recognized and accepted as such. By stating that first impressions, and impressionable events usually will set the tone for peoples perceptions and understandings of the unknown or the newly discovered.

Now perhaps living in NY impressions are high, but sorry Ciby there are 50 states in the union and for the most part DR is hardly known for its cosmopolitan cities vast museums hustling piazzas bustling with restaurants with divers menus in downtown Santo Domingo, But rather it is known for its poverty, corruption its Base-Ball players and and yes white sandy beaches.

Not every place on earth has to feel like home to the world's "jet setters". So what if a city such as Santiago has a provincial air? That's one of the charms of the city for me. If I want world class museums and restaurants what better place than New York? Indeed, when I'm in DR I prefer a home cooked meal to eating in some wanna be wordly restaurant any day of the week. New York and places as such are what they are already. No need in making every large city in the world a carbon copy of each other. I don't care how others see DR. They might see the all that you stated, corruption, etc. but I know another face, another side. I know of it's kind campesinos that are willing to offer a stranger their shirts off their backs, I know what it is to walk down a quiet Santiago street and hold a beautiful young lady's hand, I know what it is to eat a delicious sancocho in the company of friends and family while the hills that form the cibao form our scenery etc. And these are things that I cherish and don't care one wit if the whole world is in on it. As a matter of fact I prefer that not be the case because I'm the jealous sort. These are gifts that God gave to me as my birthright. And please, do not assume that my world is limited to New York. That's an error on your part. I haven't traveled as much as I would've liked to at this point but I've traveled plenty and nothing compares to the sensations that I've experienced in my land of origin throughout my lifetime. Dominicano por la gracia de Dios.

Forget it you missed the point.

Why wont Dominican Republic prosper?

Because Dominicans are just plain to Stupid

Anyone that shows some pride in their Dominican roots on here must be a crackpot in your book. As such, I will take your post as a compliment considering the source.
