( Maltrato a Medicos Dominicanos) "Video" This is my opinion....Not YOUR opinion....Not HIS opinion....Not HER opinion....Not THEIR opinion....MY OPINION!!!: There was a time, in the DR, when being a Doctor was a "calling"......when people wanted to become Doctors to help people first and make money second. These Doctors were "used and abused" by the Government....making "peanuts" for salaries. Still, many loved their profession and kept helping people. Many left the DR and their profession behind and relocated to other countries where they worked in shitty jobs, but still making more than they were making in the DR. Then a new generation of Dictors "came to play the game". Nowaday, many Doctors are not answering a "calling", rather a "need to make themselves some money". Many, if not most, want everything to be handed to them without having to work for it. Many, if not most, all they want is to save enough money to open their own clinics where they can charge whatever they want without having any consideration for the poor. I personally know many Doctors in the DR (I am not saying if they are family members, friends or friends of friends) who, for the lives of them, do not want to work at Hospitals.....not 20 hours a week, not 15 hours a week, not even 1 hour a week. All they care about is working at their clinics and that's it. A very well known Dominican Doctor, who have been practicing for over 50 years, who had his own clinics (his sons are running them now), who still volunteers at Hospitals and who used to be head Doctor at the Aeropuerto Internacional De Las Americas for maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany years, says that: "Antes eramos Doctores de verdad.....ahora, estos Doctorcitos lo que quieren es hacerse ricos de la noche a la manana, olvidandose de la verdadera razon porque uno quiere ser Doctor". It seems that now everything is about "the moolah" and not about helping people. Edited on 8/5/2009 11:58 AM by TuPapaupa. I am "An Army Of One" ![]() Come Get Some!!. |

In addition, I think that the medical profession (as everything else on this country), suffers from the high concentration of the practice on the Santo Domingo zone, to the detriment of the rest of the country. ( Maltrato a Medicos Dominicanos) "Video" Its kind of hard for me to align with the doctors in this case, and most likely most cases. If it were the nurses or teachers, thats another matter, but doctors have a tendency to abuse their position of doctors and make you wait for hours, while they have their siestas and coffee. I would probably take it further than Leonel, I would make it mandatory 'pro-bono' work hours in hospitals for them to maintain their license...... que les parece? |
