It's not progress if the wealth and opportunity isnt distributed and Dominican local citizens aren't able to purchase these units/projects. And so, my fellow "Dominicans", ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. |

And most of all, it's not progress when the native workforce only constitutes a 5% of the total workforce in ALL the projects. If there's a sector in the economy where the Constitution is violated big time by all the parties involved on the employing side (including the dominican state itself) is on this one. I wonder what the dominican state will do with all the foreign workers once this fiesta is over (it's bound to happen sooner or later, believe me) and they start roaming the streets as chiriperos or engrossing the rank and file of the common criminals when the chiripas suddenly start to not being enough to sustain their families. What really angers me is that these magnates are the same ones that cry foul when decay starts to set in on the very environs of the projects, having not learned the lesson that you can't have your cake and eat it too: http://www.dominicantoday.com/dr/poverty/2008/8/27/29213/Dominican-hoteliers-fear-sprawl-as-Haitians-flock-to-the-East And then we start to tear our garments, like the biblical example, when international bodies call us a "failed state". Lastly, all these projects sprouting out of thin air after the country came out of a severe economic crisis is nothing short of suspicious, to say the least. Can you see the words "money laundering" in the air? If Balaguer's governments' construction boom, which was more controlled, better sustained and made more economic sense (because it fulfilled the social function of keeping the majority of the population employed, a thing noticeable for its absence today) had an end, there's not a reason to believe that the chaotic, superflous, and more egotistical one of today won't follow the same path, and with direr consequences, if I might add. You guys need to go out more, get out of your caves. Theres plenty of wealthy dominicans buying into these properties also foreigners especially from Europe. All your talk is filled with so much ignorance and negativity. Foreigners buy everywhere in the four corners of the world. Go to Manhattan in New York City and see that theirs more foreigners buying multi-million dollar real estate there than even native born american's why? we are living in a global village. The same thing, americans are buying also in Europe and beyond. You guys are brainwashed with the false construct of socialism and communism. Remember poverty is a worldwide plague!!!!! Mr. Dom keep them pictures rolling bravo!!!!! Edited on 10/24/2008 4:02 PM by arkatype. You are the light of truth ARKATYPE |

Apparently you are mentally handicapped and lack the cognitive skills to disseminate and comprehend our implied argument. Or perhaps your just ignorant of the fact. Any capable individual possessing simple rational, basic understanding of economic and world affairs acknowledges the lack of distribution of wealth in DR and would agree that the impetus behind andy thriving economy is the evolution and sustainability of a viable middle class. A middle class which is relatively non existent in DR. And as you stated "Theres plenty of wealthy dominicans buying into these properties also foreigners especially from Europe" Precisely, "Wealthy Dominicans", and not the middle class. You also stated "Remember poverty is a worldwide plague!!!!! " I concur, And so is stupidity and ignorance. And so, my fellow "Dominicans", ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. |

Arkatype The problem with your types is basically you dont want nobody to have material goods because your the jealous types. Well why dont you get your behind in line and do something for yourselves instead of bickering and making yourself look stupid. The fact is poor people will always exist and rich people will always exist. You could pour all the wealth of the rich onto the poor guess what! their will still be poverty. The solution resides in the goverments of the world, they need to reform themselves and create the environments to get the poor out of the gutter. But heck if im rich and i made my money without cheating anyone i should be able to live in peace. And if you think that the goverment in the Dominican Republic and people in general do not benefit from these developements then your just a simpleton that needs to get out more, it's amazing to hear some of the ignorant comments coming from dominicans on this thread. Again you guys need to get out more and know that not everything is doom and gloom in the world. You are the light of truth ARKATYPE |
