The improvements can also be seen in the hospitals ..it was not so long ago that ago that up to date equipment was very rare but now you can have a CT scan and ultra sound at a fraction of the cost in the USA . And more rooms have been built in the capital and in la Romana ,,those I know of

can Fausto and Belkis from Los Mina get the same ultrasound "at a fraction of the cost of the USA" or is it only for guys who play Teeth of the Dog on fine , sunny Sunday mornings?

Nuevos proyectos ecoturísticos y una vía moderna crean expectativas en la zona.

* Media Luna en la Bahía de Samaná, un banco de arena que sobresale mágicamente del mar cuando baja la marea, a 10 minutos navegando desde Miches.

* Cayo Levantado, mejor conocido como la Isla Bacardi, el Parque Nacional Los Haitises y cada año, entre enero y marzo, la observación de las Ballenas Jorobadas.

El proyecto Cisneros

El reciente anuncio del empresario venezolano Gustavo Cisneros de que invertirá más de dos mil millones de dólares en la zona de Miches ha concitado el interés de todos los habitantes de este municipio de la región Este.

Según Cisneros, quien presentó el proyecto turístico sostenible “Tropicalia” que desarrollará en Miches:

La ejecución de “Tropicalia” conlleva proyectos sociales, educativos y empresariales que beneficiarán directamente a los habitantes de toda la región Este.

El empresario venezolano aseguró que el millonario proyecto será un emblema para el país, porque será ecológico de baja densidad.
