Some believe that a more fitting name should be given to our homeland and have proposed the noun Dominicana. The name Dominican or Dominicana" sounds too catholic and religious for my atheist-scientific-mentality, and i find that Quisqueya isn't appropiate because the significance of Indians in our bloodline is less than 20%. Now I believe that a name more representative of modern perceptions and democracy would be most appropiate. Therefore i have concluded that BOSCHLANDIA is a perfect name. Bosch was a hero, a man who didnot sold himself to Trujillo or the Yankees or greed. He fought for us and was the inspiration for a country to be proud off. BOSCH is my Number One Dominican Hero. Its proper to Honor such a man in this manners. Remember that Germany (in West) is known for a Roman General Germanicus, and France, was named after the FRANKS... What say you??? Am willing to hear sugestions and discuss them... BOSCHLANDIA Edited on 8/9/2009 6:15 PM by CarlosFranco. |

Tell someone "I'm Boschlandian" and noone will think you're from a hispanic country, they'll think you're from Scandinavia! How about Santo Domingo? Most Dominicans seem to refer to the country as Santo domingo anyway so why not? you got that right Chilli .....Charles is a dummy My daughter Yaina aka ". Chucky la Nina Diabolica " |

We are ethnic Dominicans whose ancestors come from a land known for ages as the Dominican Republic. I am not into any name change, like if we had an idenitity crisis of some sort. Give me a break. As far as I'm concerned, it stays that way - period. |

But I enjoy that you come from a non-religious view of things. |

Because the name Dominican Republic is only a religious adjective and a governmental form put together and it does not sound commercial nor authentic. I misses something native in it. I would suggest to take the name of one of the cities or one of the regions and name the country like that. Please take the most markettable name and the one that sounds best internationally: Options: -Republic of Puerto Plata; -Republic of Punta Cana; -Republic of Constanza; -Republic of Santo Domingo -Republic of Baní; -Republic of Pedernales; -Republic of Samaná. Neighbouring countries have very nice own names, we need one too. Check this out: -Cuba -Jamaica -Puerto Rico -Haiti -Panamá -Costa Rica -Mexico -Venezuela -Peru -Brazil Edited on 8/10/2009 6:47 AM by buenoha. |
