We are ethnic Dominicans whose ancestors come from a land known for ages as the Dominican Republic. I am not into any name change, like if we had an idenitity crisis of some sort. Give me a break. Because the name Dominican Republic is only a religious adjective and a governmental form put together and it does not sound commercial nor authentic. I misses something native in it. I would suggest to take the name of one of the cities or one of the regions and name the country like that. Please take the most markettable name and the one that sounds best internationally: Options: -Republic of Puerto Plata; -Republic of Punta Cana; -Republic of Constanza; -Republic of Santo Domingo ; -Republic of Baní; -Republic of Pedernales; -Republic of Samaná. Neighbouring countries have very nice own names, we need one too. Check this out: -Cuba -Jamaica -Puerto Rico -Haiti -Panamá -Costa Rica -Mexico -Venezuela -Peru -Brazil Edited on 8/10/2009 6:47 AM by buenoha.
