Because the name Dominican Republic is only a religious adjective and a governmental form put together and it does not sound commercial nor authentic. I misses something native in it. I would suggest to take the name of one of the cities or one of the regions and name the country like that. Please take the most markettable name and the one that sounds best internationally: Options: -Republic of Puerto Plata; -Republic of Punta Cana; -Republic of Constanza; -Republic of Santo Domingo -Republic of Baní; -Republic of Pedernales; -Republic of Samaná. Neighbouring countries have very nice own names, we need one too. Check this out: -Cuba -Jamaica -Puerto Rico -Haiti -Panamá -Costa Rica -Mexico -Venezuela -Peru -Brazil We need a name for us Buenoha... not for the tourist.. they'll keep coming regarless. Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela do not belong in that list since these are not indigeneous names. Venezuela i think means "Little Venice" and the other too are obvious. BOSCHLANDIA is the name !!! That would make us BOSCHLANDESES LOL Edited on 8/10/2009 4:34 PM by CarlosFranco. |

It should be called Duartenia then, cuz' the country was Juan Pablo Duarte's idea after all, even though the people ended treating him rottenly after all that he sacrificed for them. Duartiano seems to be form most commonly used, cuz' everything related to him is called the "principios duartianos", "ideales duartianos", etc. "A man who strives after goodness in all his acts is sure to come to ruin, since there are so many men who are not good." BOSCHLANDIA BOSCHLANDESES BOSCHLANDES Why not call it Boschia? Sorry but Boschland sounds too Scandinavian for a Latin American country. One the other hand, Dominicans might feel more connected to their beloved Viking ancestors With a population 99.99% Nordic, why the hell not. |
