I have to be honest and say I don't like our country's name. I don't mind being called "Dominicans" (I use Quisqueyano as well around other Dominicans, foreigners would not know what the hell I speak of) but the name seems awkward. I usually say "Santo Domingo" as opposed to La Republica Dominicana.

From what I have read, the name Dominican comes from Santo Domingo, so it would not be a sacrilege to call the country as such, except for some lefty-lunatics and race baiters that would find it too colonial for their tastes.

But then our demonym would be...(Santo) Domingians?

I say leave it cause who cares, but if anything make it Quiqueya.
