I don't agree, not fair, but a fact. It is only in places like the DR which has different categories for racial phenotypes, where we separate and make a distinction between the pure blacks from everybody else. Whereas in other places if you are a person of color, they tend to bunch you together with "black." In my case I could care less, if you are a beautiful or gorgeous person, it does not matter the color of skin or race. Beauty is beauty no matter what. im not trying to preach to the choir here but the facts are the facts. if you read some of the excelent posts that our great Lautaro the son of quisqueya has written you will learn alot concerning the one drop rule that black america imposes on people of color. i don't have a problem with how black americans label one another from the lightest to the darkest, but i do have a problem with people that try to impose their racial views on dominicans. to me that is what the essence of racism is. just read some of the things that the afrocentrists write about the dominican people. they paint us as a bunch of self-loathing kkk radicals that want to impose spanish culture at any chance we get. of coarse can you really blame such self loathers that don't have much of a culture to speak of? i sure cannot because looking at the dominican culture along with other carribean nations we have richness and variety. we have retained the african taino and spanish influences in music, food an customs.
