Even though vid nº 1 is crap, I still believe that if what you have to show for dominican republic is a video full of clichés in order to sell it to potential tourists, the result is neglecting (and thus blaming and harshly critizising) the rest of the people (be it uneducated, or simply dark skinned from the barrios), that need to make do with whatever they can, even if it means copying stupind models from same-doing stupid nations such as the USA.

I wouldn't call it slanted. I would personally call it totally biased towards a good image of a country that does not exist beyond the frames of the video. Our country is those luscious beaches, the attendants bringing the food in hotels, the hotels themselves, and the giggling girls with moñitos, etc. But our country is also those kids aping others so that is something we have to deal with. As much as the canadians have what..., lemme see..., this:

Let me guess, they found illegal drugs, the owner of the house and friends were charged, the place was known to police as a place where drugs were used and abused. As for the damage, looks like a typical party with some drugged out people, few broken doors, mirrors - whatever!

The Video was good, but the music was horrible. Doesnt even represent the country.

In short, I think that judging a whole country by a couple of videos is sinning by oversimplification. A country is the sum of all its parts, appropriate or inappropriate. And in the end it is the responsability of many, those that are supposed to guide the people, and of those that are to be guided to.

Interesting contrast now that I see this thread from a distance.

Really too bad, the one video does a great job of showing what an awesome country this is....more Dominicans need to take pride in their country - maybe they would stop throwing garbage all over their country and start keeping it looking good.

We could send a video around the world showing the filth that is everywhere - would you prefer that?
