Young women marrying older men - Are they "gold diggers"?

In the DR it is a common sight to see mature and older men, mostly European, parading and showing off younger Dominican "trophy" wives, and pushing the baby cart with Dominican children. This is a now a common occurrence, influenced by the popularity of erectile disfunction pharmaceuticals that bring new sexual vigor to older men.
Are these younger women in their prime "gold diggers" or the equivalent of female "sankies"?
Can we condemn them for wanting to get out of the circle of poverty into a better life for their children?
Is it wrong for them to aspire to more upward mobility, an opportunity for a better higher education for their family and a worry free life, without daily and constant struggles?
Where would love fit into this arrangement?
I will like your opinion on this subject that affects Dominican society. I will like to concentrate on younger women that marry older men, due to the fact that mostly European older men often choose to start new families, and have children and are usually very committed and responsible for that goal.
European men are usually fit and still attractive although the age difference is substantial in most cases.
Would you mind if your sister, daughter or close family marry one of these "Dons", in the autumn of their lives?

I agree that financial security plays a big part in an arrangement with younger woman and older men to a certain extent, but, women are naturally attracted to men since prehistoric times that can provide two
basic things:
1. Security and protection to the family.
2. Be adequate food providers (In the most basic sense).

Also many younger women are attracted to mature men, as they are more stable and in a firmer grasp of their destiny, than younger men, that are more immature and prone to early flight and more distractions.

Gold diggers? Sure. But who knows what any of us in here would do if we hit bottom. Survival is just an instinct we have.

But I think there are two kinds of gold diggers. The ones looking to marry a rich guy, rip them off and leave. And i think the others, of which I think the majority are, solely look for a rich guy to settle down with and start a family. The easy life is so much better. They'll tolerate the old wrinkly shrived guy because she'll never have to worry about money again.

I remember meeting the hottest 30 year old Dominicana ever while waiting at baggage claim at JFK airport. She married a rich Jewish guy from the Upper East Side here in New York. She flat out told me she's going to fu*k all the hot Dominican guys here on the low. I think she did just that. Some of these old timers when they head to DR just kid themselves. For the most part Dominican women are NOT suckers. The foreigners will be taken in for a spin.

I don't see a problem. The same happens in DR with rich DR men (one of my cousins is doing this) but that situation is a little more complicated...
