Pepe, for you to question Peña's Dominicanship shows that you indeed see the world in terms of "white" and "black". How would you consider Peña?
=========================================

Pepe, un raton es lo mas pendejo que hay pero arrinconalo para que tu veas... el hecho de que el generalisimo salio a defenderse con arma en mano , es de suponerse (after all he is a militia man, right?). However, that doenst make him a man of balls of steel... did he ever have to confront the US militarily?
=========================================
On Caamanños movement you dont believe the "official version", you believe your own version ..interesting. Anything you say about what would of , could of, might of happened had the reinstatement is purely hypothetical. You need to know more of Bosch's fundamentals.

The race card as usual...how silly!
Peña Gomez location of birth is unknown unless you can prove that he was born in DR ,somehow facts are inconvenient when you don´t like them. Everything we know about his birth and infancy is sketchy and nobody has ever been able to show otherwise, now Cuco Valoy and Johny Ventura are both very dark but everyone in their areas can point to the house or location they were born in .The other point is ....what did Peña do to merit the title PATRIOT which is the basis of the thread. It is my opinion that to it is extremely rare for a politician to be a Patriot because of the very nature of politics in which self interests reign supreme.

Who cares where Gomez was born?.......until proven otherwise, the man was born and raised in the DR.

And even if he wasn't, last I heard, a person CAN indeed by a patriot en otras tierras...........don't believe me, ask the Cubans about "Che"..........(well, at least the Cubans in Cuba),

First of all I would quote Maximo Gomez as someone who helped Cuba, second of all when we speak of PATRIOTISM one of the requirements is to be of the nationality (in this case Dominican) now someone from another nation may contribute for whatever reason to our nation but they are not Patriotic by definition. If you are going to argue a point you cannot make up your own definitions for words. Now to call Peña Gomez a Dominican Patriot is to fall into two traps ,first of all there is no clear proof that he was in fact Dominican and second of all he did nothing to merit the title .Caamaño and others pushed an ideology that I do not agree with and would have fought and would fight with all my power ,but I have no doubts as to his Dominicanness nor the sincerity of his convictions and his willingness to sacrifice everything for what he thought was the best for our nation

I've said from the beginning that I am NOT picking and choosing who's a Dominican patriot......

A Dominican, through and through, posted he was and I put it on the list since this thread is about, which I said from the beginning, who/whom Dominicans consider patriots......and it just happens that many Dominicans do think Gomez was a patriot.......many don't.

Now, and since you keep putting words in my mouth, hinting and saying I consider him one, SHOW me where I said he was.......PLIIIIIIIIIIIIIS cut and paste that post because I want to see it.

I'll be waiting.

who said it is irrelevant ,the fact is that many Dominicans consider Balaguer the father of democracy and the "saviour' of "la Patria" and there are concrete reasons that can be posted both for and against but NOBODY has been able to post WHY Peña Gomez (real name unknown and Dominicanness not clearly demonstrated) qualifies for this honour,Santana is another without whom we would not have become independent yet many refuse to see him as a Patriot so my point is that your little list has a clear leftist bent to it and most true Patriots have admiration across the political spectrum ,not just in one ideological bent!
What do you mean "who said it it is not irrelevant"?..........are you kidding me?........IT IS when you are saying I am the one saying it, when in fact I have NOT done such a thing.

So please, don't put words in my mouth........not doing such is the key for better communication between us.

That said, enlighten us....tell us, if you want, why you don't think Gomez was/is a patriot.......putting aside where he was born......since it seems you are so passionate he is not........again, if you want.

Papa, you are selling but I am not buying...if someone is saying Mr Gomez was a Patriot the onus is on them to state why the person is a Patriot ,I cannot see any reason to consider tha man a Patriot even disregarding the obvious fact that he was probably not even Dominican!
The ONLY thing I am selling is the fact that I DI NOT say Pena Gomez is a patriot, like you claimed I did.

I know people who say he is and I know people who say he isn't.

Now, if you want to quote me........quote this:

It's MY PERSONAL OPINION that............(drums, please)....he is NOT.

But it's fair to say I don't know EVERYTHING about the man.......alot, but not EVERYTHING!.

ONE thing I know........"they" stole the Presidency from under him.
I am "An Army Of One"

Come Get Some!!.

I've noticed the rhetoric you speak of. At first I thought it simply a reactionary prose but soon found the same drum being beaten well after the initial attacks from outsiders. Oh well, those people will forever be meek.

Allow me to give an example of how I think some Dominicans can become 'extremist' ::

- Random Dominican has never given any significant thought to Haiti, he knows they're located next to us on the same island, they speak French/Kreyol/Patwa, etc.

-He may be dimly aware that we obtained our independence from them. There is no hate or strong feelings about this, it's similar to Americans learning in school that they got their independence from Britain.

-Gradually he is confronted with a steadily increasing stream of anti-Dominicanismo via the internet (random forums/blogs/websites/youtube), documentaries, articles, random foreigners, all painting DR in a negative light.

-He is exposed to more anti-DR hate from third parties. The hate is directed at the very fabric of Dominican culture, our history and people.

-A constant stream of hateful, despicable, denigrating anti-Dominicanismo from many different quarters. Things that would probably boil the blood of many, such as historical revisionism more appropriately titled historical fiction, outright racism against us..

-Said Dominican then goes on the 'attack'.

If said Dominican does not have at least a basic understanding of his country, his history, his culture and the complexity of the problem, he will become an 'extremist'. He will react by attacking.

Much like an extremist of any stripe, racialist/supremacist extremists come to mind actually.

Well put and detailed USADR. You've mapped the mind of these seemingly psychotic short tempered misfits. I wonder who fits the bill on this site...

Ateo/mulatobembon/euromax and ElFactor/gizmo fit the bill pefectly.

I bumped this thread, because I think they should read this.
