Dominican Republics First Eco Sustainable Village
Dominican Republic's Eco Sustainable Village

With great potential for Eco Tourism. Taino culture,Hiking, nature walks, earn about indigenous medicines and herbs and foods. A website will be set up and marketed around the world.

I am looking for any people Dominicans, expats, retirees, anyone who is interested in being involved in an off grid eco sustainable village.

Investors,in kind help, volunteers, donations of used construction materials and other used or new goods that could be used in such a project.

Doctors, nurses, engineers, architects, farmers, anyone interested in being involved in a eco sustainable community are welcome.

I am not interested in looky lou's only serious minded people.I will be in Dominican September 25 for 2 weeks, my third time this year. I'm interested to meet anyone seriously interested.

Just a short overview of what will be contained in the village. Naturally the information below is not written in stone. It is just a guideline to gain direction and momentum for the proposed project. Some things will be available some won't locally. But the idea is to use as much indigenous or available local materials as possible.

Bio Dynamic Organic Farming; All fertilizers will be organic and made on site from composting and vermiculture methods.Hand work and oxen when ever possible will prepare the land.Vegetables, coffee fruits, herbs, medicines.Products for village use and sale to local markets, hotels, restaurants, resorts etc.

One cow is sufficient for 15 acres of land to aid with composting and making organic fertilizer.

Animals are an integral part of a sustainable farm/village.Naturally we will raise chickens and other animals that are low impact on the environment.

Energy: Wind mills made from used materials, solar panels made from used damaged panels or other means.as much as possible

Housing and other buildings:Rice Straw Bale, rice is a great straw and renewable source of building materials locally, stone if the land has field stone or available close by,subterranean,Taino thatched Bohio's,and others, roots cellars

Forestation:Did you know there are hard wood trees available that can grown 10' in a year 30'in 3 years with beautiful flowers and can be sustainably harvested. With one of the highest carbon uptake rates of any tree. The flowers make your home smell great..much more more about this tree.

Bee Farm:to pollinate all plants and supply honey

Cooking:Solar, Pompeii and earth ovens.Produce are own bread and deserts

Health:This is a big issue. Why Alkaline diets are better than acidic. Why PH balance is important. And why we have to purify water to acceptable PH levels. Pure water, chemical free foods, alkaline diet and fresh mountain air along with exercise and you have the good making of a very healthy community. Bicycles

Transportation:Yes of course we will have a vehicles for our needs, and emergencies.Getting products to market and delivering to customers. But the idea of course is to have as few as possible and available to all the village.Less fossil fuels the better.

Compostable toilets odor free

This information has been posted just to stimulate interest and make connections.Obviously there is a lot more to this proposed project than this.I have posted to see what kind of interest it draws from this site. There will be very limited posts here.Anyone truly interested please contact me directly.

Here is a great link that show the potential for Earthbag building on our island. Because of our climate and constant tremors, I think rice or strawbale are not the best choices for building dwellings. Earhbags on the other hand could be a panacea to the housing crisis. Lets get the word out about this technique that could make a difference in the lives of many.

earth bags, rammed earth and many other eco styles are all relevant depends where your building,i am well aware of all eco techniques, straw bale is fine but hurricane 5 has few techniques that can withstand the pressure, dome housing is also good for strong winds etc
