Hope you have some savings. If you can ship your vehicle make sure to convert it to propane. It will cost you between $500-$2000 USD depending on the system, but you will see the savings during your first year. |

A programmer in a recognized bank will earn here around 1000 to 3000 USD per month if you get lucky and land a good job from the start. Plus that, the cost of living is quite high also... Just take a look at the cost of renting or buying an apartment (http://www.indominicana.com) DaniDR Living in the Paradise |

You are so wrong. In fact it is the opposite. Everyday another layer of government bureaucracy or tax his heaped upon private enterprise. |

I'm curious why you picked DR when you could do quite well in other Latin countries with your background and if your bi-lingual. I know for instance in Colombia, someone with your background would get hired very easily as long as you know Spanish. Salaries are low over there but cost of living is no where near as high, and if you get hired by an international company you might even get paid in dollars (not as likely but it does happen) which with the exchange rate (last I checked it was like 2000 Colombian pesos) stretch very far over there. Colombia though isn't very open with their economic policies though, and there are obstacles for foreign entrepreneurs. Not trying to steer qualified people away from DR, but its the truth unfortunately. The cost of living and the exchange rate steer a lot of people away. Edited on 9/17/2009 11:11 AM by Chico81. |

An Entrepreneur is better well of than an executive of big MNC. I've performed well in banking industry here in India and in IT sales specifically with the Small and medium size business its more of technology consulting and its just initial years of my career. The future definitely holds progress in BRIC but the supporting economies like DR will move along and my experience here in India with some of the lain american companies have motivated me to poke my nose in Hospitality consulting. So in any tourism supported economy my PR skills can be capitalized. |
