RE: Haitian “herds” invade Dominican southwest!!!!
Wow Carlos I am impress, this the first for you. Carlos Those Haitians are looking for a better life just like everyone else. Dominican come to the the US in large numbers why?. it would be an outcry if the whites started complaniing about Dominican in the Heights. Most of us been fortunate enough to have a job or a career, so we can seat comfortably behind our keyboards to talk about this epidemic. Brother stop blaming the Haitians who cross over to DR, if they had better choices none of us would of been talking about it right now. Your Elite run Gov as well as my Gov should be the one feeling your wrath. Use all that energy towards them, not these folks who are looking for something better. I am all for border control whateva country it might be. The type of threads u been starting are not gonna serve u no purpose but adding to the problems and maybe costing DR it s great tourism industry. I respect u as a person but I think what u should do is mobilize your people to get on your Elite gov and maybe, just maybe someone will commit to the change...

America is a first world nation capable of taking on immigration issues, DR is a 3rd world mess with it's own problems who doesn't need people even poorer than itself flocking to it.

So because the Haitians, who cross over to DR, don't have better choices, we have to take them all, with our mouth shut. Can you name a country that takes all the illegal immigrants crossing their borders, when those immigrants have no better choices? Or maybe the poorest Dominicans losing their jobs, seeing their wages shrink, and worsening of basic services, less chairs at schools, less beds in the hospitals, less basic safety, are more responsible for the actions of our Elite run Gov than the Haitians for their Elite run Gov, and therefore Dominicans, the guilty party, have to suffer anything coming their way and Haitians, poor innocent victims, have the right to come here with their families, claim documentation, nationality, fair paid jobs, basic services, health care and maybe the humane treatment they are used to receive in their country, all for free?

Please illustrate me. Why is that we, who are not the ones going in masses to Haiti, are the one who need to mobilize our people to get on our Elite gov to commit to the change, and not the Haitians, the ones that can stay in their homeland because their only prospect is starvation? How come Haitians, population and government, have to do nothing, jus to collect their things and children and move here to made demands they would never dream in Haiti?

Hey Stan, I don't think DR should carry the burden of the haitians. I honestly dont' think they should just kick the haitians who are in DR out, without proper protocols. DR despite some of terrible vices, is a decent neighboring country. I can say they have been quite patient to an extent, especially the fernandez administration. The only thing I feel, is that Leonel who is a great speaker, should try to team up with the haitian government and help them attract investments, or improve infrastructure. While he's doing that, he starts asking the haitian governement to help tighten the borders, and make sure that the haitians stay in Haiti and start learning how to fix the problems back home. The haitian government is not the greatest, but the relatively better dominican government, should step in with international leaders to find a solution in increasing economic development in haiti. Share similar business practices, and etc. At the end of the day, I really don't think dominicans really hate haitians, i would say its a complex relationship with a good amount of frustrations on why the neighbor can't get their ish together.

RE: Haitian “herds” invade Dominican southwest!!!!
For the record I am not promoting nor defending any illegal crossing any border. I wanted dude to understand a situation that's out of any of hands. We could cry out as loud as possible to get them out or establish some sort of work permit with some limitation without damaging the economic life of the poor Dominican. Unfortunately Things are not gonna change over night until "Haiti" Take over by the big three (U.S, France, Canada) is completed. I am currently in DR and I am witnessing the drastic change first hand compare to some other folks seating behind their keyboards looking at the glass half full. However, the point remain it might not happen anytime soon, because ecomomycally it work in the advantage of the Gov and the one looking for cheap labor. I think we all know the culprit...

Miss Micaela how are you, hope you doing fine. I read frustration in your wrtting. Anyway, for the records Dominican used to come to Haiti in large numbers back in the 80's, they also established business without any problems until the early 90's. As far of mobilization you know we are god for that, but remember Haiti doesn't have a Gov, these fools are puppets on a string. just so u know I have heard of numerous walk regarding that situation in Haiti. Like I said before I am not expecting for Dr to just suck in anybody that crosses the border either, but i feel that the receiving country should establish some sort of strict law to protect its border. The Haitian Gov frame of mind is " I have nothing to lose, at least I don't have to worry about them" Sad but true I know that for a fact because unfortunately I have family in the Gov. Talking to the Haiti gov is like talking to a COFFEE TABLE.

Dominicans came to the US for two reason...

1. The first generation, in mass numbers, came after the april revolution. They were driven by US politics

2. Haitian immigrant, because of their poverty and misery in Haiti, are easily abused, and dominicans elites prefer to pay a Haitian shit money, instead of paying a Dominicans a decent salary. Thus forcing Dominicans in search for a better life elsewhere...

In conclusion, if Dominicans were paid decent wages, by the mechanization of agriculture (sugar) and construction work, which is booming, by receiveing a 100% raise and no Haitian labor around, then dominicans won't have to immigrate to the US..... Furthermore, the huge number of Haitian in poverty in Haity, how would not be able to leave the country, because they would not be able to find work and replace a dominican worker in the DR, Haitian politicians may once and for all have to start making things for the better for their citizens if they don't want another revolution in their hands. Sincerely

Carlos Franco

RE: Haitian “herds” invade Dominican southwest!!!!
Of course I am frustrated and sick of the talk of bad Dominicans /poor Haitian victims. Yes, Dominican used to go to Haiti in large numbers in the 80's and established business. But as you say, they established business and large numbers were only thousands. A far different situation of =- 2 millions of Haitians, most unskilled, but willing to work for food, crowding our hospitals and school and public transportation in the cities and in the country depredating our resources at large. Without bias, do to the health system in Haiti, with not vaccines or preventive care, most carry deceases long ago eradicated o controlled everywhere else. I have not heard of Haiti's situation, I have seen it personally.

Now, how can the receiving country establish any sort of strict law to protect its border, when the other side have absolutely not control or interest in controlling, and let the nets of trafficker and negreros operate freely. Besides, they are hungry, in many cases, crossing may be a matter of survival and they would not be easily stopped. You just said it, the Haitian Gov not only have nothing to lose, but a lot to gain dumping on us their surplus population, effectively alleviating the pressure for jobs, shelter, health care, clean water, basic services and not even worrying to provide them with documents to give the chance to regularize their immigrant status or facilities for them to declare their children in Haitian consulates, thus allowing them to be apatridas. Do you see them preventing the thousands of pregnant women crossing just to deliver their babies here any time soon? But does anybody talk about that? No, they talk about how bad we are, refusing to give them the Dominican nationality, in spite that the mother has not been in the country even for 48 hours. And so it goes, the Haitian gov and elite are invisible, they have not bearing in the so-called "Haitian problem" in DR, the clearly visible are the black heart Dominicans.
