FRANCE AND UK HELP IMF WITH LOANS TO POOR COUNTRIES
Yesterday ,it was announced that UK and France would loan the IMF $4 billion for help to poor countries. The IMF managing director hailed the deal as historic and hoped other countries would follow.
He revealed the IMF would have run out of money for it´s low income country loan facility--at zero interest rates with in months if it had not been for the loans from the UK and France ,,More information on the BBC site.

Can these be the countries and the organisation that are portrayed by three or four writers here as dangerous and evil when they try to assist the alleviation of poverty in the DR and Haiti ??

I also note that France and the UK have been immediately assisting in the disasters in Indonesia and in the south Pacific along with Australia and New Zealand and that interest repayments from many poor countries have been suspended by the IMF.

Are these the actions of evil , dangerous countries or an organisation or an example of rich helping the poor ?? Long live those who give!!

you lie squeeler USA funds in IMF are 4 times that of France and UK you forget how America saved UK after the war with free Spam

the food was supplied under lend-lease - paid for with interest through the Anglo-American loan.
And most food during the war was puchased with cash - gold stocks etc.

The US was mean after the War - Britain had to blackmail the US to produce food for Germany while Canada was very generous to the Brtis.

Britain has always been about trying to persuade the US to help.

actually .although not really on the subject, Hitler was surprised that all the British commonwealth countries came to the help of England..countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India ,Pakistan ..and most British commonwealth countries supplied food after the war for a long time

ABC, why do you elect to introduce FACTS AND INFORMATION when you are arguing with Goulet? a few sophomoric insults will do just fine, thank you.

and now the IMF has confirmed that interest payments from poor countries will be suspended until the end of 2011 and the IMF will sell up to one eighth of it´s gold reserves and apply the money to help the poor countries .Again , a great reaction to the problems facing the less well off .

Britain has always been about trying to persuade the US to help.

S.for Squeeler

as usual you lie squeeler.. Large quantities of goods were in Britain or in transit when Washington suddenly and unexpectedly terminated Lend-Lease on 2 September 1945. Britain needed to retain some of this equipment in the immediate post war period. As a result the Anglo-American loan came about. Lend-lease items retained were sold to Britain at the knockdown price of about 10 cents on the dollar giving an initial value of £1,075 million. Payment was to be stretched out over 50 years at 2% interest. [9] . The final payment of $83.3 million (£42.5 million) due on 31 December 2006 (repayment having been deferred on several occasions) was made on 29 December 2006, it being the last working day of the year. After this final payment Britain's Economic Secretary, Ed Balls, formally thanked the US for its wartime support........FINALLY AT 10CENTS on THE DOLLAR

According to you it was free - anyway if UK, Commonwealth and Russia had not stood agaisnt Hitler and the Japs ....... and of course the Americans made billions from excess profits from trade in cash at a time of general goods scarity.
All spam, apart from that donated in food parcels after the war by private individuals following cinema appels was paid for........... An the US were so reluctant, as always, to help people in trouble with their vast proportion of the World's resources the UK government had to introduce bread rationing to twist their arm to help the Germans.

No the comment regarding interest free loans is not according to me ..it is according to the Managing Director of the IMF and all this is on the BBC website ..as was the comment about the suspension of interest payments ..even if you believe there were injustices in the past ;I do not think any one can be critical of the two measures announced now
