Prime Minister of Canada - plays piano and sings
The usually gala-shy Prime Minister Stephen Harper surprised and wowed party-goers at the National Arts Centre Saturday night by taking the stage, playing piano and singing The Beatles hit, With A Little Help From My Friends. He was accompanied by renowned cellist Yo Yo Ma. A Beatles fan, his singling voice was strong. Dressed casually in a dark blazer and dark shirt, he kept the tune but couldn't hit the high notes. He left those to the band that was also playing along with him. The Prime Minister received a standing ovation.

Fear always seems to be at the root of hate; and, loathing of others is oftentimes a reflection of disgust with something about one's self. I hate you because you're a different color, religion, political persuasion, sexual orientation or national origin than me. I loatheyou because your attitude, values, choices, demeanor or work ethic are different from mine.
Hating others for external differences, and loathing others for internal variations, is at the center of conflict among men, women and nations. Ethnic wars, civil clashes and segregation have all been born from hate, and our world becomes further divided along class lines each year, fueling the the fires of contempt between the haves and have nots.
Let's simplify things to get a better understanding of the root causes. I hate you because you look or act different from me, and I've always been taught that my way is the right way. I loathe you because you think differently, or believe in different things, than me, and I know that my beliefs are divine or superior.
Have we gone far enough? I think not. I hate you because I'm afraid that if I accept our differences, then the people in my life will reject me. I loathe you because I'm afraid that if you're right and I'm wrong, then the foundation of my beliefs will begin to crumble.
Far enough yet? Not quite. I hate you because you're different from me, and I'm afraid that you won't accept me for who I am. I loathe you because you're beliefs are different from mine, and I'm afraid that the world won't make sense if my beliefs are wrong.
Now, we've gone far enough. The root causes of hate and loathing are the fears of not being accepted and of chaos in one's life. These fears often drive people to do horrible things to one another, in hopes that by eliminating the object of a person's fear it will go away. Instead, the fear only gets worse, as every action validates the negative feelings of fear inside one's self. In the extreme, this fear has driven people to genocide; to a lesser extent, it has destroyed marriages, family relations and friendships.
If you find yourself hating someone, or something about a person, ask yourself what you are afraid of with regard to that person; then, eliminate the fear within you, and you will erradicate the hate of others. Indulge the fear within you, and the hate will persist forever. Ultimately, the hate will destroy the hater, not the object. Dreadsie, Don't be a hater!

let's get this straight , Willie. my hate for you is not anything visceral. rather, i hate your attitude, not your personage. you believe that you can take over this board and use it for whatever agendae you have in mind. to the best of my understanding, this is intended to be a board to air Dominican issues, with the odd outside issue, pertinent to the DR, thrown in. you have monopolised the board for your own entertainment, and have just about sealed that assessment with this crap about the Canadian Prime Minister playing piano. WHO CARES? we have a country with no electricity, poor health and education systems, and the onset of violent lawlessness staring us down. yet, the best you can offer is to regale us with some mindless post about some foreign dignitary amusing himself? are you demented, or just plain stupid? or both? it bears out my analysis of you; a foreign interloper who does not deserve to receive even the most vestigial of courtesy from the noble people of this country, who should run you back to Canada on a rail. do us all a favor and go home, please. the caribbean does not need types like you. we are still trying to recover from centuries of slavery and white supremacy.

just this week, Willie , i went with a white associate of mine to a hotel on the north coast. he was to meet with this Canadian guy, to discuss a matter. the guy was seated at a table with six other Canadians. not ONE of them paid me the courtesy of even acknowledging me as being present. as a matter of fact, they went out of their way to make it known, by innuendo and action, that i was not welcome in their hallowed presence. i would not be surprised if you were at that table. but that is the attitude of which i speak. foreigners who come here thinking that they are above the locals, who should be only too happy to have them here. I AM NOT!! GO HOME!!

Never having had the great priviledge of meeting you, I can still understand why Canadians have a lot of common sense!
