Not trye - if the difference is 50 pesos a gallon and there are 4 people in a propane taxi a run of 4 miles uses perhaps 1/6 th gallon of fuel. 9 pesos divided among four people about 2 pesos.
Some taxis could be retrofitted with diesel engines - saving fuel imports with some government incentive. Per peson (passenger) use about the same amount of fuel.
And you want to trash the planet so you can have a little nap at lunchtime instead of going out for a good heathy jog. In Europe the 35 hour week is common so people 'work through' with only 1 30 mins break.
If you start at 8 end of day is 3.30.
Actually the German firm I worked for had a nice pool and at lunchtimes you could go and relax by the pool with lounger and start work refreshed after a swim and a shower. No wonder German compaineis are efficient.

even 2 pesos is alot for some Dominicans. It would cut into the cab driver's take home pay. I can't take a jog and get all sweaty during work. I go to the gym when I want to work out (I drive my car to the gym as well)
Also, if you have ever been in a concho car with 4 people. It is no fun...
First, the driver hass the AC off to save fuel.
Second, they fit more than 4 people in the back seat of a corrolla
Third, one of the passengers probably needs a shower from working in the sun all day(smells like onions)
Fourth, you might get robbed at a light since the windows are open, or pick pocketed by one of the passengers.
You might say.... take a regular taxi. But most Dominicans can not afford a normal taxi everyday
Its not cool ABC. wont work man

Public transport - large buses and trams are cool. And I think diesel per passenger mile is good also. It is also easier to keep large vehicles in order. OMSA should be a priority for spend.

Next time you are in Santo Domingo or Santiago take a public cab and see how much fun you will have in traffic. You will be sweating like a pig. Also, many bus drivers around the world are not properly trained and drive too fast and end up killing man people each year.

Bus travel causes few fatalities per passenger mile compared with motorcycles and cars. I normally takes the OMSA buses, the metro or failing this a private cab. But if the price of propane rises this is not going to make matters worse. Fatalities are rising......

Of course the UK's stupidest PM ever introduced deregulation and guess what 'bus wars'.

In DR,if the bus driver crashes he takes off running. Most have bought their liscense. The bus idea is good but in DR I can not trust those drivers. They drive too fast for some corners

Someones car burned to a crisp. The mechanic was working on it and forgot to shut off the propane tank. This guy was trying to weld something onto a car. Rule 101 for welding is to make sure no flamable items are close to the spark. Only take you vehicles to mechanics that know what they are doing.
