the other poorly informed poster claims Cubas economy is speeding along he must mean glacier speed or he is a propagandist Cuba is having a small issue with tissue -- there just isn't enough to go around. The city known for baseball, cigars, and Buena Vista Social Club has found itself in the midst of a toilet paper crisis. The company that manufactures the countries toilet paper supply, Cimex, has said they are currently unable to produce or import enough raw materials to make more toilet paper until at least December.

“The corporation has taken all the steps so that at the end of the year there will be an important importation of toilet paper,” said a Cimex spokesperson. Meanwhile, President Raul Castro announced budget cuts last week that slashed imports by 20 percent. That, combined with the raw materials shortage, has led to the rapid disappearance of toilet paper from store shelves. Until more supplies are produced, citizens are encouraged to conserve toilet paper by tearing off fewer squares, switching from two-ply to one-ply or using cigar wrappers. It looks like there will be a black market for TP in the near future, so if you’re headed to Cuba any time soon, bring a 24-pack of TP and you might fetch a nice price for it. Good luck Cuba, and here’s hoping you don’t get the runs.

In ABC's dream world the whole world wouldbe like Cuba, and freedom loving people would have no where to go.

CNN REPORTS: The Florida Coast Guard yesterday arrested around 5500 people on boats, kayaks, inflatables and other means of water transport, desperately trying to flee the doomed USA and get over to the island paradise of Cuba. Those arrested were extremely disappointed in not having made it out of the USA. As one of the arrested would-be escapee's said "We want toilet paper. We want freedom.” The 5500 people chanted that refrain over and over as they awaited transport to Guantanamo Bay. The Obama government stated “Comrade Obama cannot understand why anyone would want to leave the workers paradise being created by him and his team. It is extremely distressing to him.” Of course the White House Spokes Person, when asked by one tenacious reporter, admitted that there was more than enough toilet paper in the White House to deal with tremendous amount of Shiite being produced by Comrade Obama and his Team of Czars.

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday that he and Cuban ally Fidel Castro risk being more conservative than U.S. President Barack Obama as Washington prepares to take control of General Motors Corp.

During one of Chavez's customary lectures on the "curse" of capitalism and the bonanzas of socialism, the Venezuelan leader made reference to GM's bankruptcy filing, which is expected to give the U.S. government a 60 percent stake in the 100-year-old former symbol of American might.

"Hey, Obama has just nationalized nothing more and nothing less than General Motors. Comrade Obama! Fidel, careful or we are going to end up to his right," Chavez joked on a live television broadcast.

During a decade in government, Chavez has nationalized most of Venezuela's key economic sectors, including multibillion dollar oil projects, often via joint ventures with the private sector that give the state a 60 percent controlling stake.

Obama has vowed to quickly sell off General Motors once the auto giant is back on its feet, but the government will initially control the company after a $30 billion injection of taxpayer funds.

Chavez, a vehement critic of the U.S. "empire," has toned down his rhetoric since Obama took office in January and the two men shook hands during a summit in Trinidad and Tobago in April.

Oh! we are being silly today......... Pirate preacher Man.
US spends trillions selling its lifestyle, its goods, its services, 99% which trash the planet to hapless millions. Shrewd manipulative psychologists work overtime to create 'demand' for items for which there is no rational earthly use. The US population of 300 million continues to squander the 15% of the worlds resources it sits on and another 15% it controls - running child labor in numerous countries to grow sugar, coffee etc. etc. for US citizens to use wastefully.
Yes; if the Cuban government was given 500 million to advertise in the slums of the third world many would take a boat there - Some do already. 'Cuba confirms arrival of 30 Haitians'

Of course the Bo;ivian Revolution with huge popular support is, in several countries, growing a good local adaption of social democracy.
Chavez's reforms have weakened the political and economic power of Venezuela’s capitalist class, while at the same time strengthening the confidence and organisation of the oppressed (the workers, urban poor, campesinos, women and indigenous people) in order to replace the structures of the old society with new ones based on the oppressed themselves.
