WHY DO HAITIANS CALL US PANYOLS
This question goest out to the Haitian posters and any Domincans that may have some knowledge on this. I've read that during the Haitian occupation of Santo Domingo, Haitian troops would refer to Dominicans as 'Panyols' (Spaniards?)?
Just curious, is their any negative stigma attached to this name? And what do they call Spaniards?
Also why did this come to be, we don't refer to Haitians as Francaise/French? Just curious.
I ask because during some debates Haitian posters on a Haitian forum use this alot.

Are you kidding me?. I am tired of hearing Dominicans refer to those Bahamans, Jamaicans, Dominicans, Trinidadians as "English", and I am tird of hearing the Americans call most Latinos "Spanish".

????--------> And we refer to Haitians as Haitian. Stick to the subject and try to contribute something relevant to the topic, I'm strictly speaking about two neighboring nationalities. We can all go down the list of how different nationalities refer to each other.

Not exactly. If you're not aware of this, a lot of people in our campos are used to calling them "pitises" and "mañeses". I don't know what "mañé" may allude to, but I know that "pití" is the mocking way in which we refer to their using the "petit" word.

Good to know, I've never personally heard that term, but I can definitely picture it being used, lol.It seems like the Panyol one is as common as saying Dominiken.

The K's and Y's come from the way french words are pronouced in creole i.e. T'as qu'a which sounds like "Taka", par coeur ~ pa ke, monsieur ~ mesye, l'arc-en-ciel ~ lakansyel, juillet ~ jiye, parier ~ paryay, and so forth. And you are correct cyberdragon, k's and y's are very unusual in french.

Why do Dominicans call Haitians "culo prietos" when the Dominican Republic has the Eastern and Southern region?

And why do Dominicans make fun of the Boricuas monotone-sounding accent when Dominicans probably speak the sloppiest Spanish in the world?

Hey, why do Americans call each other ni99a, darkie, or ni99er, when it has the Southeast, Michigan, Chicago, Queens, Harlem ,brooklyn?

Because we, the Venezuelans, the Colombians, the Nicaraguans(for some reason) are the only ones who don't speak LA Spanish in a singable way. Not even the Cibaenos
The South is not even that prieto, and I am not talking about pockets!.
