Some statistics...
There are 2,000,000 Million Haitians in DR. They take Jobs at so low a price that Dominicans would rather take their chances with SHARKS... So being the poor country that we are why don't we deport all the Haitians; all but those that are legally in the country, which according to the article pasted below are around 11,000, and that way we decrease unemployment, raise wages, decrease the amount of dominicans leaving their country for the US, Europe, or Costa Rica...

All these wonderful things are possible only if we decide to enforce our immigration laws, which at this point are nothing but a joke... and so is CESFRONT....

Only 11,000 legal Haitian residents
Nobody really knows how many Haitians are living in the Dominican Republic. Recently, former United States President Jimmy Carter stated that it was "impossible" to stop the flow of Haitian nationals across the border. These comments gave the Ministry of the Interior and of the Police the idea of implementing a Plan for the Regulation of Immigrants, but nobody really knows the extent of the problem. Estimates on the number of Haitians in the Dominican Republic vary from half a million to as many as two million. However, Migration director Admiral Sigfrido Pared Perez says that only 11,000 legal Haitian residents are registered, and he does not believe that there are more than a million Haitians living in the DR. His own estimate is that some 500,000 Haitians are living here.
In 1991 the National Statistics Office (ONE) said that there were 245,000 Haitians in the country, and in 2003 the Foreign Ministry said that there was a million. In the nation's first census, in 1920, 89 years ago, 28,258 Haitians were registered as living here, and there were 894,665 Dominicans. Pared Perez said that he thought that the Haitian presence in the Dominican Republic could be regulated, although it would be necessary to apply the Migration Law 245-04 and to proceed with proposals to enforce it, such as a census to register all foreign nationals, proposed in 2005.

RE: How to deal with economic uncertainty in DR these days
For any of the Dominicans living in DR or familiar with the key figures that are relevant to the illegal immigration issue: Is there any reason why the guesses or official estimates given by these people are always much lower than what one is led to believe?

RE: How to deal with economic uncertainty in DR these days
DR has the advantage of a lot of arable land, and just like USA has a generally military-oriented populace, DR has a pretty good amount of people that know about cattle, chickens, mangoes, roots, among others. You just have to remember that food does not grow in the super.

Some statistics...
The number of Haitians in the country is underreported... People claim that there aren't 2,000,000 Haitians in the country but then they claim that there is less than 1,000,000. But ask then yourself how do they know this number if no studies have been done; How can they say there aren't 2,000,000 Illegal Haitians but that there is less than 1,000,000 Haitians in the country...

Here are some Statistics....'

1. 3% to 4% unemployment, is considered Full employment, it is the economic goal of most countries

2. DR's unemployment is at 15%... Now subtract 3.5% from the 15% unemployed dominicans that leaves us with 11.5% Unemployed dominicans.

3. Dominican labor force stands at 4,100,000 Million. 11.5% unemployed Dominicans out of 4,100,000 Millions is 471,000 Thousands Unemployed Dominicans in total (In DR today)... Now remember to add all those who have left for Spain, Italy, Costa Rica, Holland, PR, USA, and elsewhere... All together that reacheas almost 2,000,000 Million Dominicans overseas....

4. Those numbers have now been replaced by 2,000,000 Million Haitians.

Now imagen if all those that have left, would still be in DR, working, investing, and paying taxes.... Our economic growth would surpass the CHINESE!

I don't know about you, but that makes alot of sense to me....

Carlos let me ask you something if I may. Who do you have in mind? or what kind of people from past and present DR Govt to enforce our border?
