It was about time we had our own place!
I guess the wait was worth it!!! We now have our own forum so we don't have to limit all the discussions to the comments on the articles and we can create threads ourselves!

Kudos for DominicanToday.com for the bold move!

Don't worry. The daggers will soon come out.

But at least those who just want to skim the news won't be forced to see the exchange.

RE: It was about time we had our own place!
Buenos Dias, damas y caballeros. Sorry still thinking in a little spanish from the verbal clobbering I gave belial. I have some faovrs to ask and if time permitted I would be able to do them myself. I need to get up to date on all the current Dominican Republic crittical events, I have some friends getting ready to open up shop there and I need to know what social issues besides the elections are the hot issues right now. I am looking for allegations of corruption but so far I am curious if such allegations can be validated with hard evidence. I mean the last article about little checks was putting some curious thoughts into my head but I don't know, I am currently out of the loop on a lot of things, and one of them is the current state in teh Republic right now. Any good articles or sites would be awesome. I have googled it many times but the issues that arise do not focus on Dom. However I am convinced that some fool play is a foot, however without strong evidence and some visual proof I am uncertain if such allegations can be considered valid and pertinent? Please your help and assistance would be nice. I am seeking help here and that is something I do not like to do, but we all must swallow that pride sometimes I guess. I guess maybe I am over my head too far on this one, RH Miller please could you give me a direction or a place to go please?

Thank you for your time and deuces

Well Rabbit,

I don't know If I can help you that much, but I'll try.

The main event (socially) right now is the elections. Most of the news you'll hear right now will have some political substance added to it, wether if it's the metro, a scandal with a politician or anything by that style. About hard evidence on corruption, that's a difficult one. Anyways, it's probable that the micro-corruption, which affects most people directly is not on the media. That is, los buscones, bribes, someone asking for money for some kind of governement permit/tramit and so on.

I don't care about politics, but the main concerns right now at least for me are rising prices of gasoline and goods, and crime.

My advice is not to play games regarding anything that involves corruption. If you pay for a favor, you'll pay later one way or another. What goes arround comes arround. Oh, don't trust a lawyer just because he's your lawyer.

You may wan't to open a new topic instead of replying in this thread, you'll surely get more answers!

This thread needs to be a sticky. At the top of the list of all the other threads (even if people haven't replied on it in a long time) not just because its one of the first and the oldest but because, this is what dominicano posters on here appreciate more. This way others who are not dominican descent can see the DRian pride exemplified and bring respect- Haitiano or not. Respect please.
