The Mayor fired a number of personnel who never showed up for work, and suspended several councillors who spent public funds without the required authority. But the ousted 'civil servants' and councillors are fighting back against the Mayor, and refuse to endorse payments, such as salaries. There is also an unpaid bill open where the town hall has to pay the owner of the Texaco filling station in Cangrejo some 153,391 pesos. The personnel are on strike as the salaries have not been paid and refuse collection vehicles cannot be driven because there is no petrol for them. The household refuse is piling up around the streets of Montellano, and people fear they will soon be plagued by rats, or disease. ![]() Household refuse collected under military guard Over the past few days the military personnel from the Air Force base have supervised the refuse collection. But local citizens want this long-running conflict between the Mayor and the councillors to end, and soon, so that the town can return to normal. http://www.sosuanews.com/index.php ![]() |

It seem's she did what many don't have what it takes too. About the military doing the collecting, I have no problem with that! I hope this ends nicely and that corruption doesn't win again.
