The drink could also be French-flag related. I suppose those Indians in the parade are people who are married to/part Dominican.

Only, the difference is those petionville haitian mulattos represent 5% of haiti's population (practically nothing) while these dominicans can be found practically everywhere you go in the DR. They represent waaaay more than just a measly tiny little 5% of DR's demographics. Great pics eriliza keep posting!

30%-40% Mulatto, so what? There are so many places in the DR where seeing a Mulatto would be like saying a gay peg-legged half-mestizo half-eurasian mob gangster with a lisp and a hitler mustache who speaks Finnish with a Greek accent in Zimbabwe.
