Guys this is AfroLatino, I had just returned from Haiti this past Holidays and I am going back to Haiti soon via Dominican Republic to help if I am not called to be deployed there. I wanted to know if there will be others on here doing the same. Those two foundations down below are two great ones I can refer you all to that seem very legit.
P.S: YeleHaiti is a great foundation which I donate $150 from my Army paycheck each month to because I have seen first hand and directly their work in Haiti. Edited on 1/14/2010 8:26 AM by TanBellaMami. |

Quote: Atabey previously said: This plan written some fifteen years ago is as relevant today as it responds to the critical needs in building the new nation of Haiti. Total expenses: 3 billion US dollars. Wow, I think we both have been on the same wave length because I posted this a while back ago, too. http://www.everythinghaitian.com/Blogs/BlogDetail.aspx?BID=613&PID=1999<-- Check this post out. Now here is a very important question. Can Haiti rebuild soon enough from this devastation? Quote: Atabey previously said: I don't really know if his numbers make sense, but I thought it might open up a discussion. Some people think that there just might be a "sliver-lining" in the enormous catastrophe in Haiti. Namely, that the devastation being so wide-spread may actually allow for a totally re-thinking and re-planning of the city and hopefully the nation's infrastructure. It will take billions of dollars and arduous efforts by all to make head-way with the known problems. Let's hope that the will and the resources are matched by the determination to see the long journey completed. Edited on 1/14/2010 12:47 AM by TanBellaMami. |

We hope this will stem greater humanity between us as people on the island... Right now Haiti does not only need monetary help, but your kind words of encouragement as well is the most best supportive above all one can give at this point in this moment of total despair and tribulation if you may not have money or donation of any kind. Thank you all already for any sense of sensitivity to the tragedy. De pie junto con nuestro vecino... Let us help a neighbor in dire need! Edited on 1/14/2010 12:46 AM by TanBellaMami. |

People, allow me to advise you all... while we may have in mind to give out donations, but also be very careful of scams. Thank you for all the emails of kind words I have been getting from you guys on here. The family I have in Haiti are okay, but most of them live in Puerto Plata, DR. My house is destroyed or damage beyond repair, so in other words, even Peguy Ville was hit hard as well. However, i could care less about the house, I simply I hope all the helpers working for my mother at house guarding the property are okay... I have not heard words of their whereabouts since communication is still down and I was cut off after two minutes making contact. You can imagine, I have not really slept in two days. Just wanted to add that there has been rumors gaining popularity that Wyclef's organization YELE was not donating to Haiti, which is not true. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDE8YJac0Wc Edited on 1/16/2010 10:32 PM by floacist. |
