vacanos, all good in theory, but, in reality, it will not work. i do not foresee too many bright young Dominicans coming back here with their hard earned skills, and finding too much work. the country is just too parochial and outmoded to allow for that. the good jobs will all go to the tia of the president´s cousin, and to the concubine of the generalissimo´s uncle. they will claim that it is their right to dispense the jobs to those who stayed here and struggled, while you went abroad and enjoyed all the Wendy´s and Red Lobster.

RE: 65,000 students to incorporate in the bilingual program in Dominican Republic!

OPTIC is Oficina Presidencial de Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación en Republica Dominicana they are the one that deal with everything technology related in DR.

Belly, keep up the great work on this thread. congrats for what you have already said. this is my pet subject, as i have been an educator at one point in life, and aim to return to any classroom that will have me. but, as i said, the entrenched factions will not leave too many doors open for new ideas. they feel threatened. firstly, they are so ignorant that they think they know something. secondly, those who are smart enough to know that they are dumb will do all that is necessary to protect their livelihoods.

Persistence dread, persistence. Target the college, university or institute of higher learning that you want to work in, and then apply even as a volunteer, or part timer or even create a spot, even in the mail room. The cream always rises to the top, it just takes a little time for "them" to notice you.
And best of all do not reveal your true intentions in the beginning, so they will not feel that you are maybe a threat, to their sacred status quo.

Thank you Dread. As I keep reading around and getting more information on different subject I'm more convinced that the problem in all comes down to education of both students and teacher because both need a higher level of it.I think in DR there is lots of potential in higher education but we need a government that puts a budget for school and then everything else because as it stands now is more like everything else and then what ever is left put it into schools. The tech field in the whole Latin America is so underdeveloped that is a shame to say out loud something I have found out as I travel around different countries. To me the way out for DR is entrepreneurship but that requires some sort of dominant knowledge in a field and that's the problem in DR even teacher don't have a solid knowledge on their own subject.I have talked to some call technology teacher who have been teaching for a while and even dough I'm not yet a master in programming I can see holes in their curriculum that leads students in the wrong direction and tunnel vision education where they can't think outside the box because they don't dominate the subject.

It is like you have said before that people in DR just copy from another but fail to understand the principals of the subject and how they arrived at that point so since everybody just copied then everybody makes the exact same mistake.Just look at all Dominican websites and you will see it on the web too from DRSOL to DR1 they all have the exact same mistake in the design process.DT is the only site that I know of that is thinking a tiny bit outside the box but still needs an update on the principals of web design and the workflow to get a well all around design.I'm not a designer but I'm taking media classes and I can see it better now from the tv channel to the radio station all making the same mistake and I just think is funny.

RE: 65,000 students to incorporate in the bilingual program in Dominican Republic!
as i said numerous times, Belly, the problem is one of FUNDAMENTALS. people have to understand them before they can make any progress in todays world. i will use my favorite subject to illustrate my point. you know, SPEAKERS, for homes and cars. every builder of speakers that i have met, and i have met numerous, believes that the holes, or ports, in the speaker is there to LET OUT the bass. none have ever heard that it is those ports which tune the frequency of the enclosure, and that, when properly done, the music comes from the port. so, they all just put two holes, of any size and length, with no idea why. ergo, they cannot ever build a proper enclosure, except by accident. that is what i speak of..BASICS. that is the reason why they can fix a broken tv set for it to work TEMPORARILY. because they do not understand the fundamentals, they cannot figure why it broke in the first place, and fix it for good. better yet, design a better TV.
