Someone who's paternal line came over, according to dates provided by he himself, as a result of the odious spanish annexation and who's maternal line came over well into the republican period, in all probability some time during Hereaux's dictatorship. There are Dominicans of haitian descent with deeper roots in Dominican society and that's a fact. My family were cibaeños even before there was such a thing as a Dominican Republic. The machetes of my ancestors helped forge the Dominican nation. My roots from outside the island have long been moot. I laugh at you Mr. Franco. By the way explaining away supposed "Arab" features as some trait inherited from some supposed southern spaniard ancestors has been a common technique used by hispanic mixed-bloods, particularly mulattoes, for some time to hide their true racial composition. I refer anyone who wishes to research my before mentioned statement to the work of J. A. Rogers. Still ranting low comments ? ? Am I less dominican than you becuase my family has lived on the island for 140 years as opposed to 500? Can you prove your ancestry ?? So what if haitians like Afro-Jewish?-Latino has had more time on the island... SO WHAT Also my family, and am pretty sure by the facts i mentioned previously... that my family came after the war of restoration... not before or during and way before Lili... Get your timeline in line... LOL PS My family fought fought in the April War and some were killed when they opposed Trujillo... Is that good enough for you Cibaeno? That’s funny.... what’s even funnier is that while my family has less time on the island than yours, we were welcomed and accepted into Dominican society fast and you're still struggling to get in... Your contradiction is that your family fought against Trujillo which one would assume that you would be against Tyranny that is based on one's skin color, ethnic and background given you are an immigrant yourself. You are more of a foreigner to the Island and DR than than I am period my family have always been on and of the Island yours migrated on the Island from other different shores......................... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

HA HA HA You were accepted because white skin color was known to be many governmental campaigns in effort to whiten the Dominican race and could still be in the mentality of many. I do not need to struggle to get in, I am already in and luckily in both societies might I add. Yeah, that is right, ha ha hah!!! Edited on 7/19/2008 8:33 PM by AfroLatino. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Tell me, is it so weird to have people and descendants that come from a country that completely borders the DR commenting on this forum or site? You know what? Why can't people be more secure with themselves and realize that even though there are two peoples residing side by side with different influences, beliefs and factions of biology- they can never truly dispell each other's significance. If this was a Haitian forum I would not be so stunned to see a Dominican poster. That's my piece. Dios le bendiga! |

I acknowledge the Dominicans because they are the closest people to my descendants country not Jamaica, Cuba, or Puerto Rico. They're right next door, its just logical. How follied would it be to have an eternal hatred between the two countries. I'm sorry, I think its absolutely stupified. Edited on 7/20/2008 9:07 AM by talia. Dios le bendiga! |

I also ask people to tell me who people like Alicia Keys are? Oh but see here's the thing, people of a truly balanced mixed heritage have what others might think as a confliction in identity where most of the time these ppl. (Alicia keys and the like) feel they are simply a mixture with the real biological avenue of discovering and resonating with two different influences at once. Is that so weird. If there are people who are Dominican and Haitian at 50/50, why can't they resonate with both. What so wrong with neutrality? Dios le bendiga! |
