NY4life, you are very right about the double meaning we Dominicans love. We're such perverts! More than once have my relatives (particularly from my mom's side) made me blush at one of their crazy and openly sexual comments/jokes! It's even worse when they try to give you advice about your own sex life or they give you too much info about theirs! lol That's family for ya, though!

and no matter how old you are.. all my cousins older than me (30s-40s) still call their parents mommy &papi ..in the states (gringos) think thats ridiculous.. whatevs..

what about, telling what your bad dream was before noon so that nothing bad happens? i still do that!

or like, if you have a dream and youre just racking your brains finding the meaning of it? like, fish, pregnant is $/projects.. teeth is death, mirrors is betrayal.. etc lol!

or what about 'cion mommy, 'cion papi when you leave their house? no other latin group does that..

How about, "Oh, pero bueno!"

And if it's not el diablo, it's "Santisimo!" or "Virgen de la altragracia!"

The pointing with the lips is classic! And I am still laughing at the clapping when the plane lands!

I love the DR!

You see, more things Haiti and DR have in common when it comes to calling our parents mommy and pappi no matter how grown we get, and sometimes no matter how successful we get we still like to live with them too and never find it an issue or necessary to want to leave the house unless things are not going so well.

Same with the dream example and giving meaning to the dreams an stuff, there is a lot in common. Oh I wanted to ask this one question on "falling stars" some people in Haiti believes when they see a falling star that it means someone just died in the direction of the falling star and when a falling star is seeing by someone, that someone should not say it to somebody else until the next day or so and not point at it otherwise if they do, they will become a tattle tale rambler.

I am not sure if I get all the concept right but there are other side stories that are associated with the falling of a star as well. What does DR has about "falling stars"?
