What song moves you
I believe that music is a universal language. It doesn't matter if you speak Spanish or French. Just listen to a song, you will be able to determine the mood of the song. So let me know what song moves you, reminds you of a loved one and so forth. With that being said, my favorite song ever is "Until the end of time" by 2pac.... But this song below reminds me of someone who I hold dear....To make a long story short, I never meet my birth mother because she died giving me life. Although the situation in this song is different it makes me think of her.

RE: What song moves you
Hey there, jemesouviens. I'm sorry to hear about your mother....This video is very nice and the song too, I wish I could've understood what it said, but I got the message that it is a song dedicated to mom.

As far as what song moves me, man this is a tough one, as there are several that fit this description and I just cant narrow it down to one, so I'm gonna post two and they're both from Juan Luis Guerra:

1) Visa Para Un Sueño:

This song moves me because it makes me think of my parents journey here to America and all of the hardships they endured in America and all of the sacrifices they have made for my brother and I. I am forever in debt to them....I Love You Mami & Papi!

2) Estrellitas y Duendes:
This song is plain and simply a beautiful love poem made into a song and it is one of my favorite JLG songs! Bachata Rosa was his best album ever!

RE: What song moves you
Thanks JEM. Let me answer you question for you...The song is in Martinique creole and just like Haitian Kreyol they are both almost similar to formal French. Now, the singer is basically saying "I want to see you" (Mwen envi vwe'w mamma). He describe about how he grew up in the orphenage always wanting and asking about the mother he never knew. When he goes back to the orphenage, he recieves items that he's mother left him while he was young. And as he finally talks to his mother he ask her "pourquoi tu laisse moi" (why did you leave me). All in all I think it's a beautiful song that showcases a different kind of love. It also shows a mother's sacrifice and remind me of my own. Hope I answer you question.

Very, very beautiful JEM...the songs that is . Although I could not understand the lyrics as well, I understood the tone of the song(plus I'm a fan of the Spanish language). What I think is lacking in music nowadays is "Substance". This is realy evident in the hip-hop genre. Artist are just writing songs now to make a buck. There's no story behind the music, no melody, no substance at all. It's destroying this art form if it goes on.

RE: What song moves you
Well I'm a bit caught up on him because I just caught his awesome concert, but I'm going to throw up a few Kanye songs that speak to me. "Can't tell me Nothing" is one I think a lot of ppl getting a taste of social mobility can identify with. I love how it starts strong from the first lyrics.."I had a dream I could buy my way to heaven/when I awoke I spent that on a necklace". "Champion" has great music but I also love the chorus "stand up, stand up here he comes...tell me what it takes to be number one". Finally also the chorus of "I Wonder" which goes "I wonder if you know what it means to have your dreams come true", that's another deep question to consider for those of us fighting to move up in life.

BTW I've loved Kanye for a long time, and I always knew he was a phenomenal musical talent but until I went to this show I never thought of him as a pop-star/performer. Wow what a surprise, the guy can put on a show to rival anything I've ever seen. Live band, a unique stage set, and a cute ""plot" to tie together the song list he played. I think NYC was the end of the tour so unfortunately can't recommend you guys check it out since it is done
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

He's singing about the peace that the smile of the woman he loves brings him. That's Roberto Carlos from Brazil. He was one of the artists that used to wake me up every morning when I was a kid
