Joe Cocker is in the same boat; he is too unattractive for today's music scene, but, when he came along in the early 80s, he was recognised as a master. so, boy bands, and guys like justin timberlake, who are mediocrities, are stars by today's standards. there will never , ever, be a band like Earth , Wind and Fire, again. the economics do not allow it. |

Dready, I had no idea you had replied to me in this forum, sorry for the late reply! Anyway, yes, I consider myself to be someone who has a pretty varied taste in music. Of course there are some genres that I am not into either because I'm not too familiar with them or they're just not my cup of tea, but generally speaking I find good music in almost every genre. I have to agree with you wholeheartedly on your comparison of yesterday's music vs. today's music. I grew up hearing my father listen to Carlos Santana, America, The Carpenters, Earth, Wind & Fire, Barry White, The Bee Gees, Herb Alpert, Marvin Gaye, etc. and can't help but wonder sometimes as to what happened to music like that (especially Motown music which I love). Don't get me wrong of course I like all that teeny-bopper music like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and the like because I was in junior high/high school when all that stuff was in its prime, but as I've gotten a lil' older I've come to appreciate the music of your and my folks generation (sorry don't mean to call you 'old' Edited on 2/25/2009 2:28 AM by JEM237.
