However I think it's in bad taste to label Haiti as a "basket case". There's a smart way to get at him without bashing the country as a whole(We are civilians). Jemesouvien, thank you for correcting me concerning Haiti and it's status. It's just my dominican frustration at seeing our beloved sister republic suffering so much that causes many of us to distress. I guess we behave as a sibling or relative who upon seeing someone they know and care for, still mired in the same difficulties, then becomes involved in blaming the vicitim, for their own misfortune. I know not a good remedy.

Our beaches are the same, the landscape is the same, our food nearly the same. Linguistic traits have hints of similarity. If Europe could integrate after centuries of war and HATRED. Then two countries on one island can do the same, maybe even better.

With almost 20 million people (U.S.$1 per person alone is 20 million) on both sides and growing, with amazing beaches, art history and that astonshing Haitian/Dominican tenacity to strive and survive. We should be alright in the LONG RUN. It will happen on the personal level, before it becomes a fact at the national level. In the short run, we'll keep throwing rocks at each other. The future can be bright if we let it shine.

We don't have to love each other but we should be able to get along. If we apply the golden rule all things are possible.

All I can say is that not all haitianos are so combative (one's pain and anger is constantly looking for closure- its only human) and many of us do want peace. As much as a Haitian can trounce around saying how proud he/she is of Haiti (even in its condition right now) they should have the same dignity to live justifiably with dominicanos- whether its border to border or computer to computer. paz!

Rom when you called Jem a b****, it was like calling me or any other Haitiana a b****, Jem is a woman like me. Compassion, spiritual humility, that is what can uplift us now. Its hard right now and so easy to get angry and blame but right now we need to find strength in uplifting each other then when this is reciprocated by God's grace we can find relief.

FYI, I did in fact go throught the painful process process of reading your original post regarding how you feel about DR and its people. If you had any bit of intelligence in you, you would have derived that from the response I posted. Yes, I did focus on the reply you gave Franco, but trust me that when I told you to stop embarrassing yourself and other Haitians and when I told you that no one here will miss you (which still holds truth) I definitely said it in response to your original stupid post. I did expect a rant from you after the response I posted, but I am someone who likes to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I never thought you'd resort to actually cursing at me, which just served to further prove my point of doubting your intelligence. So, if calling a woman a bitch is the way in which you decide to prove yourself, then go ahead sunshine, do your thing. That just shows who's the bigger person here. We are all human and we all have the right to voice our opinions, as long as we give others respect. Indeed I agree, hating anyone or anybody is not going to fix anything for any one's particular Country regardless what Country it is or may be; nor is placing blames. Thus, hatred, racism and resentments have no place in todays world and we this new generation should know better to rise up to this challenge of not letting those negative attributes overwhelm greater possibility for peace.
