Are you light skinned? If so, they probably just thought you were Cuban or Puerto Rican. Send a "typical" dominican (in a puerto rican's eyes) that looks like Anthony Santos over there and watch him get treated like a Haitian would in the DR. Nah they'll probably think they're a American moreno and try to copy his "swagga". |

Quote: Chillindrina previously said: Most Dominicans who immigrate to Puerto Rico illegally have dark skin and nappy hair. Puerto Ricans probably don't think Dominicans can have straight hair and light skin so if they see a Dominican with straight hair and light skin, they'll just assume they're one of them or Cuban. Just like Dominicans think all Haitians have to be pitch black and if someone sends a mulatto Haitian over there, people will just assume they're Dominican. Are you really Cuban? Come on, you can tell me. Where in the states do you live, New York or the surrounding tri-state area? |

Hell, I hear even their parents tell them this about Dominicans! Is this just a bunch of made-up Nuyorican bullshit? yeah it is puerto ricans dont really hate dominicans its only when they go against each other like in baseball and stuff |

Which is why I've heard of Dominicans in New York City getting platanos thrown at them by Puerto Ricans There is some rivalry of some kind that exist(ed)s between the two groups. When my dad came here in the late 60's/early 70's he fought more Puerto Ricans calling him Platano than Blacks,Whites, and Asians combined. I never understand the simple mindedness it takes in calling someone a food staple that your people consume as much if not more. |
