Hello I go by the name Chillaxin201, I am Dominican both my parents where born in DR and both of their parents as well. My family has several generations in DR, and my family has served in the Dominican military under several great Dominicans. I joined the U.S. military in my teens; I was very motivated and wanted to know everything about war and combat so on. Fast track to Fernandez’s 1st term and the United States military so called training in DR, so called school building. I wanted to go on this mission, I tried my best.
I called the commander of the unit stationed in DR; I tried to contact every Officer that I could. I thought of it as a vacation to be in DR building schools. Plus I always wanted to do humanitarian work.

I was un-successful in my attempt, and read the news of so many Dominican against the U.S. Military presence in DR. I asked one of my sergeants, he was a lot older then I was and he was from Dominican from Bonao. He told in his own words “that Dominicans where protesting over bullish” that is over a civil war that the Americans had helped…

I ask around I did my own research, and I was astonished of what I had found out.
Just like American soldiers kill in Iraq, the same they did and help do in DR.
I had found out that, truth liberty and Justice for all was a lie.
That the U.S. had used the CIA to remove a democratically elected president, and those that had fought for true democracy had been killed. And there memories tainted.
I did more research but this time my research was more international; I look up everyone form Castro to Pinochet.
And I am still looking up everyday and reading more and more and learning about the evils I was once sworn to up hold. Most Dominicans in and out of DR know little about Caamaño and the evils done to Latin America. Beleaguer tried his best that the education system in DR keep this important information out.
Judge me if you want, but I will share my info with you and they “those that are against the truth” will try there best to discredit me.
This site Dominican Today is commented by several none Dominicans that will do everything to distort the truth. Well educated people like gouletcolonial, will do everything in his power to distort facts and history.

There are several pro U.S. anti- Castro Cubans in this Site.
I have nothing against Cubans but these people that spread lies about our history and present. They betray Latin America by favoring those that have killed and oppressed our people.

yes, chillaxin, the tired, decrepit, dysfunctional Miami Mafia. you know, the types like the Benitez brothers, who love the "freedom" of the USA, because it enables them to steal everything that is not nailed down. something they cannot do in Cuba. a virulently reactionary, neo conservative bunch of racists, they have managed to dictate politics in the USA by their contol over Miami and central Florida. thankfully, time does not stand still, and these old dinosaurs will soon have departed this earth. they have held south florida captive with their self serving, anti castro agenda, and are a blight upon the american landscape!

Hey chillaxin201, as you can see I go by the "screenname" JEM237 and just like you my parents and my grandparents were born and raised in DR. Based on what I read from your post it seems like you were unaware of some of the things that had gone on in DR when the U.S. invaded in '65. I, of course, was not there either ( I was born in '82 ), but my parents lived that revolution "en carne propia", I was so shocked at many of the things they told me that American soldiers did. Sometimes I feel torn between two countries, I love America but then again I see U.S. politics do so many things that I am against in other countries (including the DR)....Oh well, I g2g but I'll "elaborate" on this a lil later

About the war of 65 I did not know, not exactly. My parents really never talked about it and all I knew is that my uncle was locked up in DR for a long time. “He still wakes up some times fighting, throwing punches and fighting. He tells me of all the friends he lost, some in combat and those that got tortured to death during and after the war.

My parents where never really interested in telling me I never knew that my father was in the military. Until I drilled him about it, He never told me about what he did in the war, I never really look it up till Leonel Fernandez allowed U.S. troops to be in DR. the protest was against their presence was great.
After that I did a lot of research, TIME TO RISE thank you for the videos.
But you also need to read books, they tell more of the subject. I personally feel Dominicans born in DR or of Dominican Decent do not read enough books about DR.
Most people like Documentaries, the easy way.

As Anti- Castro people die, so do people that fought in 65 will also! It is up to the Dominican youth to keep this knowledge alive.
I walked into a barbershop in my city, owned and ran by Dominicans all born in DR. with my RAG-TAGS, SCUM, RIFF-RAFF, AND COMMIES book.
My barber tells me yeah! I know about that, that was to stop communism. I told him that it had nothing to do with communism actually, that the communism thing was an excuse.
He told me that he was Born in DR and that he know more of the subject then I did.
I asked him if he studied the subject he said NO, that he knows from hear say, in his own words “I don’t need to read no stinking book” ….
The moral of the story is READ A FREAKIN BOOK, Dominicans think they know everything!!
Their not putting up so many things named after Caamaño for nothing…
