RE: Obama's impact...
Anyway, what is your opinion about the controversy surrounding Palin's family right now?

Carlos, as i wrote in the comments section, you are preoccupying yourself with Haiti too much. look inward, my friend. look at what your own government is doing to ruin this country, and you will find that the Haitian effect is insignificant by comparison!

Hey Dreadlocks... Think of the FUTURE!!! You're stuck in the present

using simple mathematics count the number of haitians in dr times the number in which haitians reproduce.... and then put that figure on the expected population in 2020 or 2050... After you do the math let me know if you're still not worried!!!

RE: Obama's impact...
Carlos, i am fully aware of the problem. if you have read my postings in the past, you will detect that i have addressed the fact that this has got to be cured. the country cannot absorb hordes of illegal, extremely poor, marginally educated people, who are fit only for menial manual labor. the social and economic displacements are incalculable. and, speaking of the future, if the political directorate is allowed to ruin this country unchecked, the day might very well arrive when dominicans are sneaking illegally into haiti. you might think that all these tall and visually impressive buildings you see being built means that we are seeing wondrous times here; i caution you to look a little closer at the situation.

This fact is specially galling, considering that the goverment and the private sector, instead of addressing the veritable housing deficit exisiting in the country, invest all their efforts in satisfying these constructions, which are nothing more than glorified "white elephants", if you know what I mean.

i read you loud and clear, Mr Lautaro. try to understand that we have de facto rationing of electricity in this country. we are not far away from rationing cooking gas. it is not lovely right now. only the rich are living large; the general public is under great pressure to survive!

LOL. Please, don't mention this fact to GC, cuz' he will swear for everything that is dear that the only places on earth where rationing exists are on Cuba, Venezuela and North Corea.

i will hope he does not read my post. as for Palin; what can i say. here is a woman who promoted abstinence, and opposed sex education in alaskan schools. ain't life strange? maybe her daughter was not home the days she gave her sermons on sexual conduct and sex out of marriage. i love it when this kind of crap hits republicans. every time one of them gets caught with whores, or little boys, i laugh. because they have appropriated the moral high ground to themselves, but are nothing but a bunch of self righteous hypocrites. at least democrats don't ever try to legislate bedroom happenings.

Apparently, they will never tire of looking like fools every time the sh8t hits the fan. That's the reason that I can't understand the sense of social complicity that the american public has shown with them, even after 8 years of one disastrous policy after the other.

Maybe he was acting under the traditional southern prejudices, GC. It's not exactly a secret that Haiti has always been hated on the South, because it was a reminder of what could have happened to them have they followed with their economic system.

Lautoro,

Saying that one of the most Liberal Presidents in U.S. History still harbored resentment for something that happened almost 2 centuries before because of the Location of his Birth is a stretch beyong imagination.

RE: Obama's impact...

DREADLOCKS

I am very aware of the needs for better government... But going back to the Haitian issue, and please tell if you disagree... DR is building fast... whether it is hotel for the rich or apartments... doesn't matter what, constructions are taking place. If there were no haitian in DR these industry would not stop from building... They won't... DR is a moneymaker... What they will do is PAY more to Dominican citizens to have these buildings made... That in turn would give dominican citizens more money to improve their lives, better housing, unemployment would drop lower than what it is, etc.... If having haitians is the essense of progress why is Haiti in such a poor condition and hardly anyone invests there?

Dominicans don't like constructions because it pays low... Here in the US I have seen WHITE PEOPLE working on construction... and not just any white as in Russian and Polish immigrants from the 1990's... I mean White boys who are 2 and 3 generations... They do it Because IT PAYS $40 an hour... If the same were to happen in DR we could see many young dominicans making a decent living by working these projects that will take place no matter who says what!!!
