RE: Will the Republicans steal this election as well?
oil continues to crater it will below 90 by the end of the week watch the economy recover and fast ....Hugo will have problems less money to steal from his people....My beloved Sarah has even brought the republicans almost even in the polls in NJ wow NJ even ......Rangel continues to circle the drain as well ....About his tax problems and remember half his constituents are latinos His excuse “cultural and language barriers” with Dominican officials was, simply, offensive. “Every time I thought I was getting somewhere, they’d start speaking Spanish,” complained Mr. Rangel.

Attorneys and tax consultants, take note of the above. I, for one, plan to use this explanation the next time I get called down to the IRS to discuss my returns. "Hey, all of a sudden everyone started speaking Spanish and I just signed where they told me to sign and left."

Just might work.......the no speeky spanish defense.....Dread uses it all the time when he gets stopped by the cops in the DR " no speeky spanish " and it works

more musings from GC, the crazy uncle whom we lock up in the basement when company comes over. ever so often, he manages to escape, marauding around the living room with a lampshade on his head, groping his nieces's posteriors. but we all bear with him, and sympathise with his disability. besides, GC, oil is tanking because of falloff in demand. that means nobody has money!! not exactly something to celebrate, do you think? you better hope that AIG gets a bailout of somewhere in the region of 90 billion this week, and the same for washington mutual. if not, next monday will make yesterday look like a cake sale!

If things continue to go south for the messiah and his poll numbers continue to crater as the oinker MCP press continues to attack my beloved Sarah you will see in October "Plugs" Biden get dropped from the ticket and they will bring back Hillybilly to stop the bleeding ....this is now a confirmed rumor in democratic circles....Baldy will have to change the batteries in his pacemaker.... the economy is a Democratic problem as well because Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac are democratic inventions and were administered by democrats at all times ...two of those guys who made millions are now Obama advisers ...the others are the ones who enriched themselves at these organizations to the tune of hundreds of millions are demos

RE: Will the Republicans steal this election as well?
We WILL not steal the election, but on a lighter note;

BY DAVE BARRY

A very important issue that we all need to be concerned about is global warming, and we will get to that shortly, but first we need to discuss what happened the other night in my kitchen.

It began when I was in the bedroom, flossing my teeth (I keep my teeth in the bedroom). Suddenly my wife burst in and said: ''There's a bat in the kitchen!'' A snappy comeback line would have been: ''No, thanks! I already ate!'' But snappy comebacks are not what is called for in this situation. What is called for, by tradition, is for The Man of the House to put down his floss and go face the bat.

I opened the kitchen door and peeked inside, and, sure enough, there was a large black thing flitting around, banging itself against the ceiling. This was a perfect example of why -- no matter what you hear from the liberal communist news media -- private citizens have a legitimate constitutional need for machine guns. No single-shot weapon is going to bring down a flitting bat at close range. To stop one of those babies, you need to put a LOT of lead into the air.

Unfortunately, the only weapon I had was a broom. And to get it, I had to get to the other side of the kitchen, which meant going directly under the bat. You know how, in John Wayne war movies, when it's time to go into battle, John Wayne gives out a mighty whoop and charges boldly forward with his head held high? Well, that is not how I crossed the kitchen. I scooted with tiny mincing steps, hunched over, emitting a series of high-pitched whimpers designed to assure the bat that not only was I harmless, but I was also willing, if necessary, to bear its young.

Reaching the other side, I grabbed the broom and turned to face the bat, at which point I made a shocking discovery: The bat was a butterfly. It was totally black, except that it had, I swear, red eyes, which were GLOWING. I realize you may not believe me, so at this point I am going to bring in a trusted American icon to corroborate my story.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: Dave is telling the truth. It was a large black butterfly, and it had glowing red eyes.

When Abraham Lincoln and I say that this butterfly was ''large,'' we are not whistling Dixie. This was by FAR the largest butterfly I have ever encountered. Are you familiar with the 1961 Japanese movie ''Mothra,'' in which downtown Tokyo is attacked by a 230-foot-long, 20,000-ton moth, played by the late Ethel Merman? Well, the butterfly in my kitchen could have used Mothra as an earplug.

So anyway, when I saw that the bat was, in fact, a butterfly, I knew exactly what to do. Specifically, I yelled: ''It's a butterfly!'' This was for the benefit of my wife. I'm sure the butterfly already knew it was a butterfly.

''Oh! Then don't harm it!'' answered my wife, in an alternate universe. In the present universe, she answered, ''Well, KILL IT!'' Women have a reputation for being gentle and nurturing, but in my experience, they pretty much want to wipe out every creature on the Great Tree of Life below the level of poodle.

So there, alone in the kitchen, armed only with a broom, I went head-to-head with the Giant Demon Butterfly From Hell. It clearly was not afraid of me. It flitted right at me in the aggressive, confident manner of a creature that, in the wild, preys on wolverines.

How well did I handle myself? I certainly don't want to toot my own horn.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: Dave was very, very brave.

In the end, I broke the broom, but I also sent the butterfly to that Big Cocoon in the Sky. So now our house is quiet again. But I am uneasy. I find myself wondering: Where did that thing COME from? What if there's ANOTHER one out there?

I frankly don't know how anyone can think about global warming at a time like this.

Before we celebrate reduced oil prices bear in mind deflation can be as bad a society-killer.

Also I wouldn't be so sure we've seen the end of inflation. They are saying the Fed may still lower the interest rate...they injected a bunch of money into the system yesterday...they may even bail out AIG...and the war continues to build the debt. So there is still a lot of inflationary pressure going on even with oil retrenching. By the way I'd predicted shorting oil through 2008 on this here board way back in July/Aug and remember someone laughing.

well, manhattanite, the fed did not lower interest rates today, in fear of further inflationary pressure on the economy. AIG only needs like 14 billion right away to stay afloat. in the short-medium run, it might need 70-80 billion. if it tanks, there will be a bloodbath. and washington mutual could go belly up too. its stocks have been downgraded to junk. who is going to lend them money?

not me manny I to said shorting would begin about 135 I was wrong by 15 however I defer to you in matters of the street.....but I do know the Demos are trying to talk the economy down same as they are trying to get the war or another hurricane going....It is a fact Obama asked the grand pooba in Iraq to please not allow the Americans to withdraw troops before the election ...Imagine that ....His father should have withdrawn....Manny you also know it was Clintons economists that set up Mortgage Welfare with Fannie and Freddy and the demos plundered it ...Hillarys old classmate Bobby Reich even said so on TV last night...Tell it like it is ....plenty of blame to go around ....and " Plugs " is a moron
