For a few days I had started to believe McCain had a real chance. Then I saw the ad about sex for kindergarten...that's a lot of desperation this early in the campaign. Does Sen. McCain think it will be forgotten come debate time? Likewise Gov. Palin, in her canned speech always delivered right at Sen. McCain's side, continues to hammer us with some dubious claims which will not hold up in a debate.

I think Repubs do aim to steal this election, not necessarily by any vote counting shenanigans but via Rovian absurdity. 'Muddy the waters' as the Dem talking points call it, AKA claim the opposite of the record, and trumpet your weaknesses as your strength. Who would have expected the allegedly conservative side of the aisle to be such masters of postmodernism? This is a double plus ungood, as Orwell might have put it, because the moose-hunting, God-warrior proles of the world lack the necessary sense of irony to detect the Rovian handiwork.

Also why are grown men all mentioning silly national polls despite the existence of state-by-state polls? CNN and Fox News have an excuse, they want to make you to think this is a horse-race to sell commercial time. What is yours?

Yes but unfortunatly the DEMs will let them steel it again. As we speak they (Republicans) are plotting, throwing diversions at the dems only to unveil their master plan on Election day and foil the entire election for Dems.

If Dems really want to win, Dems need to start playing the same dirty games.

same dirty games? same dirty games ?......I am shocked shocked

RE: Will the Republicans steal this election as well?
the republicans will at least attempt to steal the election, given their track record. fighting fair does not seem to be their strong suit. swift boating and other miserable, dishonest tactics , are par for the course for these types. just look at the commentary of republicans such as texasshoe. not a trace of fairness, honest analysis, or equal play. then you wonder if they will try to steal the election? i would be surprised if they do not. remember, these are the guys who tried to get a sitting president impeached for lying about a blowjob! then they start a war based on lies, losing over 4000 brave souls, destroying a country, displacing millions, destroying historic treasures, and decimating a population. but republicans call what is happening "victory"! i hope for their sake there is no God in the afterlife. if there is a Judgement Day, do you think the likes of Cheney are anxious to meet the Maker?

OK.

I'll Bite.
Exactly how have the Republicans stolen previous elections?
I can name numerous cases of Democrats stealing elections.

Hard to argue with cold hard facts, they tend not to be fair nor biased. Sorry it is what it is and they are what they are. With all of the blustering by yourself, Anthonyj, and others you folks have yet to produce one simple piece of factual evidence to disprove what I have presented. No need to steal anything, at the rate you are going, you guys are going to give this one to us on a silver platter. Keep moaning and whining about Sarah and you will pi$$ of all of the women in this country. Have you noticed that neither Hillary or Bill is not touching this one with a 20 foot pole, wonder why??? Please keep it up. Sarah is doing what Shirley Chisolm, Geraldine Ferrero, Barbara Jordan, Gloria Steinheim and yes Hillary have not been able to do. She might not be running for President, but the number two spot is better than none at all.

And as Ed would say "Thank you for your support"

RE: Will the Republicans steal this election as well?
texasshoe, i really see it as a fools errand to discuss the outcome of an election before it is held. polls mean something only to the people who do not understand their fluidity and volatility. and correct me if i am wrong, but did Geraldine Ferraro not run on the ticket with Mondale? the democrats are not going to be sidetracked with Sarah Palin. they will leave that to surrogates. or to sarah herself, since she will have to come out of the cupboard soon, and face real questions. you and goulet can amuse yourselves, but bill clinton was way down in the polls 2 months before he won the presidency for the first time. i would not be surprised if the republicans did win again, given the racist nature of american society.they would rather eat cork than vote for anybody a shade darker than themselves. well, should old man mccain and new girl sarah take the helm, i hope they have a lot of JOHNNY REB flags. they are going to need them for food when the cupboard runs bare.

RE: Will the Republicans steal this election as well?
Dread,

Now why did you have to go and bring up race as an issue? As I recall, neither myself, GC or AnthonyC or any others have mentioned race, nor Johnny reb flags. Why Dread why??

Oh and if you can not tell by the picture my wife is Morena, my departed uncle was Ed Blackwell, my in-laws are quite dark, and what the heck is your point. Do you contain that much pent up anger over something that you feel you must vent on other people to make yourself feel better or more important. I am sorry I just dont quite get it.

Because all those reasons that you and the others have stated, while valid on some accounts, in the end these are only excuses that serve to mask the real reason explaining why you won't elect him: because to be ruled by a member of the minorities would be tartamount to the arrival of judgement day for you. I can't blame you, after all, human beings are naturally afraid of the unknowns, and this life have too many of them for our liking. It's like the old saying: "Es mejor atenerse a un malo conocido que a un bueno por conocer".
