tah heck wit' dis govt. ish, I'm watching V for Vendetta.

Just joking.
What?!... Its not funny oh its okay, but what I found interesting is the date november 5th in that movie right after you know what. With all this talk of give the companies billions of this and billions of that I can't help but wonder what lies ahead of this. The big spender is also the pauper. What has McCain or Obama said about this? oops mum's the word!

Woody Allen talks about disgrace and humiliation

"It would be a disgrace and a humiliation if Barack Obama does not win," he [Woody Allen] told Spanish journalists at the ongoing 56th San Sebastian film festival, where his latest film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" is being screened.

Really, Woody? Would it be as disgraceful and humiliating as leaving your wife for her adopted daughter?

You know all about disgrace and humiliation

goulet, save your homilies about marital infidelity and misconduct for your savior, john mccain. yes, the man who cheated on his severely disfigured wife, and cheated on her with some rich rodeo queen. so, go easy on the moralising. it is unbecoming, seeing that you support a candidate who is well known for his lack of moral fibre and character, and who is described by his associates as a deceitful opportunist. just ask Ross Perot, who had to pay his wife's medical bills!

It amazes me the degree to which the Minority population in the U.S (i.e Immigrants, Latinos, African-Americans, South-East & Central Asians) is devoid of a sense of history. We are, in 2008, witnessing the demise of an Empire: The U.S has lost its Implicit Moral Authority; Its economy is one financial institution failure away from becoming third-world rate; its cultural pre-eminence has been diluted to the point of irrelevance and its military power, as an extension of its foreign policy, is all brunt and no brains.

Pre-eminence power at the level enjoyed by the U.S is more a question of global consensus than nationalistic will. The moment the world decides it no longer wishes to be lead by the U.S, its "power" becomes irrelevant and while it still has the means to turn the whole of the planet into a self-lighting, glow-in-the-dark parking lot, the chances of using this as leverage to impose its will on the world (or any other country for that matter) no longer holds true.

AT this point, in my humble opinion, the only to stave off the inevitable would be for the U.S to tell the world in a clear, unambiguous voice: We lost our way. We took the world confidence for granted and squandered a golden opportunity to lead the world. We get it; we screwed up and if given another chance we will live to our potential and expectations...Electing the First Minority President; one that embodies the idea of radical change in the way the U.S does business with the world will send a clear message to the world that the U.S is back in business. The business of Leading.

This is a great a post !!! You may want to consider writing for the time

Wen Jiabao for President - huge current account surplus, good at managing emergencies, earthquakes etc. Low military spend - no invasions - well organised olympics. Some US poll said that a majority would prefer Tony Blair to be President to Bush. Jiabao competent and meticulous, far more popular World Wide than Bush or other US politicians. Much experience of running large nationalized organisations. But then again the British National Health Service is the third largest empoyer in the World. Blair for advisor anyone - seems to have kept his marriage on the tracks - available now at Yale!
The constitution could be changed slightly - or the empty suit could appoint someoone as main advisor. One advantage of the Chinese could be that the good old citizens of the USA could sit in their McMansions cleaning their guns, watching TV , organising cheerleading, polishing their teeth with Chinese electric toothbrushes or whatever really useful while the Chinese do all the work.
Of course the Chinese built the railroads in California in the last century.

Poor Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger is an Austrian American not born in the land of the free!.
Maybe easier just to sell Manhatten to the Chinese - after all it was sold by the Indians before. For 24 dollars I think - but then the dollar was worth something.
