Now bear in mind that a year ago a cab from family house to the city would cost 100-120 pesos and now that same trip cost 200 peso. Hope this helps. So, you don't like what's happening in DR.... |

Location: Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo Join date: December 2007 Member #: 1 Posts: 450 | RE: Cost of a cab It will cost you arround 900-1200 pesos from Las Americas to Santo Domingo. - It will cost you more than that if you go at night. - It will cost you more than that if you ask the cab how much the fare is when arriving instead than when leaving. - It will cost you more if you take a pollito (minivan) - It will cost you more if you look like a tourist. - It will cost you more if you look like a tourist and can barely speak spanish. My best recomendation is always ask for a cab via phone and ask the operator what would be the aproximate fare. Then confirm with the taxi driver how much the fare is the moment you get in the cab. Then when you get to your destination pay the man he's money + tip and never ever ask how much, cause I't'll normally be more. DaniDR Living in the Paradise |

In addition I would like to add, if you know someone try to have them arrange a taxi to pick you up. This is something I had done in the past. I would have a family member arrange a cab to pick me up. Or another idea, you can call from the U.S. (block caller ID) a taxi company in DR and pose as if you were calling from DR and ask them for the rates and arrange a pick up.
