My two cents worth:

I hope that our planners are making things BETTER FOR Pedestrians and visitors and NOT ONLY FOR CARS. San Juan PR and many other cities have been defaced by creating cities FOR cars instead for people living. Slowly, Manhattan in NYC has become less and less friendly to cars and more friendly for people. That's a positive development.

Green Light for Midtown is a major initiative in the City's efforts to improve mobility and safety. NYCDOT began implementation in late May 2009, following Mayor Bloomberg's announcement of the project in February 2009. The work created new pedestrian areas on Broadway in Times Square (47th to 42nd Streets) and Herald Square (35th to 33rd Streets). Extensive safety improvements were also made along the Broadway corridor between Columbus Circle and Madison Square.

An initial feasibility analysis suggested the project would improve mobility in midtown Manhattan and improve safety along Broadway. NYCDOT collected extensive data during implementation and found this to be true. Based on these findings, Mayor Bloomberg has decided to make these changes permanent. NYCDOT will begin a capital project to design and build the plazas and corridor treatments with permanent, high quality materials.

And let's create BIKE LANES, TOO!

"Bike lanes: In some cities people are literally dying to have them and some people go so far as to mark their own. Here in New York City, it feels like every time I get on my bike there is a new bike lane - sometimes on the left, sometimes buffered, and sometimes completely separated from automobile traffic. To understand these lanes, I had the opportunity to go for a ride with the NYC DOT bicycle boys.

They explained the classes of bike lanes and showed off some of these inventive facilities. You can use Ride the City to find a safe bike route in New York City and watch this video to see what lanes are used on your route."

Eriliza,

This thread needs updates.

Hopefully there are no more posts from people such as E out to support people out to destroy SD and many livelihoods

Dude there may be things about E that I may not agree. But overall she is dedicated and I will give her credit for a job well done. She has consistently and voluntarily served us on a silver platter, a pictorial of Sto Dgo, that give us a differnt or another perspective of the capital city.

Instead of complaints and negative feed back provide us with constructive criticism and back up to support your arguments.

Yes i Can see that you/and or the editors support the death of children in hospitals coughing from Ashma from the effects of traffic pollution and belching power stations feeding the shopping malls.

Maybe a site , material censored from Dominican Today, is in order.

I can see that you support bullfighters that are dedicated and present the heart of the bull on a silver platter!

Also support totalitarian media that does not support free speech.

Yes I think Shopping malls and urban freeways are bad for SD. Pollution, crime result from an excesslvely acquisitive society fed by corrupt consumer experiences. I support my argument by referenceing cities that are successful having not implemented these bad features, and have given references to extensive academic literature on this subject.

Yes oneday maybe a Dominican child will sell his kidneys for an IPad he has seen in a shopping mall and doubtless murder and drug rates will increase when people seek to acquire goods and there is no way that they can acquire legitimately.

Bus lanes, closure of roads to private motorists, park and ride, new towns, internet shopping, closure of malls, restriction on parking, government support of prodution of essental goods are are all good solutions. And all in use World wide.

So you want to be a super dude and let E post without free speech - would make a good story for me with many of my journalist contacts,.huh..

You support the censor - not discussion?

S.
