COCKFIGHTING IN DR
Do you think we should keep being pressured by NATO and UN on Legal cock-fighting?
The question raises after seeing so many comments that I should consider stupid on our cock-fighting.

Dear NATO and UN, why don't we say anything on man vs bull in spain, colombia, mexico and so on? at least in DR it's bird vs bird!
Dear USA why don't we say anything on "justice" killing of humans? What about Guantanamo, Irak, Vietnam and others?

RE: COCKFIGHTING IN DR
To me, I see two problems in cockfighting. One I don't really care, the other one I do a little, not too much:

First of all, there's the fact that cockfighting is no different than spanish bull's "corridas". It's more a matter of tradition and culture than a matter of logic. To me it makes no sense, but apparently to many others it does, and I respect the culture in the same way I respect freedom of speech.

The other issue, wich I don't like is that cockfighting in the DR carries the betting practices with it. The business that is behind cockfighting is a little dirty in my opinion. All the betting and risking money always brings consequences with it.

Why so much attention to the subject? I don't know. Even if you don't like it or support it it's not a very big deal. There are many other issues in the DR far more important than cockfighting. Lets say rising crime, for one. Why did people stop talking about that? I don't care about cockfighting, I do care that yesterday 3 people assaulted a guy in front of my house. It could be me next time!
