How come the DR government still cannot find ways to provide adequate electricity 24/7 among other services or programs to the citizens? Because doing so would infringe the privileges of some of the people that had put all the incumbents that the DR has had in power since Trujillo's death, Afro. To answer to those privileges is the reason why the dominican citizenry has to pay the highest cost for electricity in the entire continent, without receiving half the energy that those companies (Cogentrix, Edenorte, Edesur, AES, etc), have the duty to serve. My points exactly. This is the reality that many others whoa re all exited about the boom have blocked their eyes to pay attention to. I mean, it is great to have all these great developments. Had it actually benefit the actual lives of average citizens of DR to the improving point that their quality of lives are proportionately in consistency with the growth of the Boom? No, and even with all this revenue the government still fail to deliver to the mass populace as they should because like you put it best Laut, they do not want to period. I mean, with all the actual capital gain DR is raking in, they could have established better social programs and unemployment benefits and even manage to bring up the minimum wage rate as well as being able to actually provide proper service to even actual Dominicans who till this day without their actual Birth Certificates, to include they could have funding to have a better effective immigration control and border security which many of the usual resentful extremists are always so enraged about. Today, if DR were to apply its resources of income just right, it could actually afford to serve as a greater beacon in the Caribbean and an exemplary credible Estate many other neighboring nations can look up to if it could get its acts together without any doubts. Golly, this year alone direct or indirectly, the DR government have been implicate in more incriminating drug trafficking and corruption scandals more than ever in the history of the Nation. However, I am happy they are coming to light because one way or the other it shows there is some kind of crack down on it regardless if most of them are simply for show. P.S: DR, due to the selfishness of the government in many sense and meaning of the word is letting many aspects of opportunities passed it by by not seizing its chances that it has now to be greater before it is too late. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Construction of big towers is the best business for engineers as their profit is 200 times (I don' know exactly, just to use a figure) their investment. |

Construction of big towers is the best business for engineers and developers as their profit is 200 times their actual investment. My point exactly Pilar, Indeed that is the point many have tried to voiced out on here. It is not that they are actually against the "Boom" which, no matter how less or nothing at all, the DR government is actually not investing back to the actual citizens of DR even with this large source of income and revenue the Country is raking in for each and every new development that is being developed each day by the days while ignoring the poverty status quo. This article you have mentioned says it all. That is the opposing stance some people Dominicans or not may have about the "Boom" in my opinion. Other than that, had the boom really been serving its purpose economically by having the government taking better care of the people, I would most definitely be unopposed of it in no kind of aspects. * That sentiment goes for any other Country with the same mind-like corruptive agenda, so it has nothing to do directly or indirectly with the Dominican Republic, but with any government around the world that ignores poverty period.
