Many will shut down after 5 years. Same as USA, Europe , China.

Outdoor markets will thrive as in the rest of the World.

Upper class are shopping internet; lower outdoor markets.

I would tend to strongly disagree on this point. If that were the case, then Miami malls and many places around the country would have all shut down a long time ago.

In spite of the current US recession shopping malls in So Florida continue to grow. You can observe and check out the parking lots and notice the very few spots left during a normal shopping day. Lots appear to be full as a good indicator business is doing well. Additionally, within an 8 mile stretch on flagler street on the western tip of Miami, there are 3 major retail malls, a short distance between each other and that does not include smaller, mini shopping centers along the way. They all seem to be doing good business.

Therefore, your predictions for the demise of the malls within a 5 year period will likely not be ascertained.

Very cool! My only worry is Dominican fire dept, are they ready to handle a blaze in one of those structures.

Hi. All these new buildings are being built with state of the art self controlling fire technology. We all know no fire department can really handle fire on skyscrapers.

RE: Boom in Santo Domingo!!!
I know of a couple of investors who had serious interest in developing some properties in the DR but they found out that owners, lawyers and brokers were cheating. In addition they found that corruption within the government being high. They would have employed more than 100,000 people and would have done even affordable housing but after having lost a couple of million they are pulling back as they no longer want to spent their money on due diligence because documents received are always manipulated.

If true, another black eye for our development. At some point the government will have to step in, or is it out , and form small professional groups that forge tight and efficient expedited services for these foreign investment groups wanting to invest in our country. Eliminating many bureaucratic steps might not please some political party members[all political parties], but it would increase modernization and development efforts across the nation.
