Johnny Rockets opens in Santo Domingo

A first for Johnny Rockets, the "All American classic" restaurant chain has recently opened in the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo at the corner of Abraham Lincoln and Bolivar avenues. It is being franchised by Axel Hache and his brother, and promises to be the first of five Johnny Rockets restaurants they plan to open in the country. The first branch, described as the plushest of the franchise anywhere, has been operating with waiting lines as Dominican patrons check it out. The restaurant sells "American food," or hamburgers, sandwiches, shakes and malts.

HOME OF THE ORIGINAL HAMBURGER OPENS ITS LARGEST INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Johnny Rockets’ Grand Opening Event in Santo Domingo Celebrates this Significant Company Milestone

(Aliso Viejo, Calif.) June 4, 2012 – All-American restaurant chain Johnny Rockets recently opened its first Dominican Republic restaurant – and largest international location - in Santo Domingo, the country’s capital and largest city.

The new full-service, 6,000+-square-foot restaurant is located at the corner of Abraham Lincoln Avenue and Bolivar Avenue in the upscale Polígono Central neighborhood, and offers local residents and area visitors the flavorful food, friendly service, uplifting music and relaxed, casual fun that have been the company’s trademark for the past 26 years.

The new restaurant’s modern, high-tech design pays homage to the futuristic yet classic Googie architecture style, and features Johnny Rockets franchise owner Axel Hache’s world record-setting fastest remote-control jet as a centerpiece. Prominent fixtures in the Santo Domingo community, Hache and his brother Gamal lead the National Basketball League team, the Titans, and own several other restaurants. With exclusive rights to the iconic Johnny Rockets brand in the Dominican Republic, the new Santo Domingo location marks the first of five Johnny Rockets restaurants the Hache brothers plan to open in their home country.

“Hamburgers are very popular in the Dominican Republic but it’s the Guest experience that really makes Johnny Rockets special,” said Axel Hache. “We’re honored to treat the people of Santo Domingo to our fun, family-friendly atmosphere with classic American music and dancing servers.”

A grand opening celebration will be held on Tuesday, June 5 at 6:00 p.m., and will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, appearances by local dignitaries, menu sampling, and performances by Johnny Rockets dancing servers.

“Santo Domingo’s construction boom over the last few years created the ideal setting to enter the market,” said Steve Devine, executive vice president of franchise development for Johnny Rockets, who will represent the company at the grand opening event along with CEO John Fuller. “The Dominican Republic’s geographic location, stability and vibrant economy position the market well for further Caribbean expansion.”

Reminds me of Hooters, when it opened. Same deal, but more people. Go by there now and see how many dances you'll see.

I'm a regular customer of Hooters, now that the newness has worn off.

I'll probably go to JR's, once all the newness wears off there, too. They do make some great hamburgers and shakes!

There are millions and MILLIONS of people in Santo Domingo. There are more successful businesses than you could ever imagine.

Are they allowed to own apartments in towers? Of course they are..
