RE: Boom in Santo Domingo!!!
the question of emergency response in the event of a major fire on the 45th floor of one of these towers is something that should be acsertained before the buildings receive a certificate of occupancy. firstly, i do not believe that we have the kind of equipment necessary for dealing with that type of fire here yet. people who have never seen a fire in a real high-rise building have no idea of what types of emergency response is needed to deal with the eventualities. firstly, you will need engines and ladders with high booms and cherry pickers to get people down from fire escapes. secondly, fire hydrants with high pressure delivery to hose the fire down. emergency ambulances, emergency medical personnel and equipment, trampolines and all other accoutrement necessary to mitigate casualties. it all looks lovely in the photographs, but what if Doña Mercedes forgets to turn off the sancocho and the building gets torched?

I checked the site and those apartments are very nice. How many people in the DR do you think can afford an apartment that starts at US$ 365,100.00?

Maybe not in D.R. but here that's a bargain! Anybody have a phone number for this and the other properties listed...?

Thank you for that link, Frank. I just found my cousin who posted pics of San Francisco on there. Also just found out he's gay, but that's neither here nor there.

And before anyone goes and says that I'm "anti-gay"...I'm not. It's that we've never seen anyone like that in my family. Especially broadcasting like he's doing on the internet.

RE: Boom in Santo Domingo!!!
I'm only concerned about one thing, because it was brought up in regards to the building of the Metro.

Who is and how are they conducting the soil studies for these massive buildings?. The D.R. sits on a seismic active zone. In case of a catastrophic hurricane, earthquake or other event, how would these structures hold up?

I was made a very reasonable offer for a condo in Miami Beach. But Miami Beach is sand on top of water.

Muchacho, I would Hold off on that Miami idea, the market hasn’t bottomed out yet,(the streets are gonna run red with speculator blood in South Florida before this is over) as for Dominican structures being able to withstand natural disasters, a hurricane, I would say yes; but an earthquake, I haven’t the slightest idea and that is a very good question.
