I dont want to be a party spoiler but do you guys think the average dominican is going to be able to afford an apartment in one of these towers? The capitol is over congested do you think these people will give their vehicles? The towers are nice but I like to see the benefits to the average dominican. Besides will the bureaucracy improve so that foreignors what have to go thru hassles and get a fair price rather than the gringo price? I have other inquiries but ill keep them on hold for now..Great pictures..

Well Jabao all the same questions can be asked of Miami, NYC...any city seeing rapid development anywhere in the world. The answer is no, these are not for the direct benefit of the average Dominican. Nonetheless I'd guess many people across classes benefit from the economic activity and infrastructure associated with them. I guess what I'm saying is it beats no development at all, and for the fortunate 'above average' it is a great thing.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

I don't think so, but it may drive people to leave for the countryside... the country is quickly becoming depopulated and santo domingo is taking more people than it can handle... I think the government should focus also in developing other areas of the country but not for tourism's sake.

You're not spoiling anything. Santo Domingo is becoming a world-class city. Slowly but surely the investments pouring into the capital are resembling works of world-class cities. The typical domincan won't be able to purchase this unless he is able to work and earn very well. However, the typical will benefit by working on these construction projects and earning income that way. Congestion is a problem but that's why the gov't built the metro to alleviate the traffic chaos. Line two of the metro should be coming in the near future as urban planning for the city's boom.

RE: Boom in Santo Domingo!!!
Thanks for the feedback. I really liked Mahanahite's(sp?) rebuttal. Indirectly the average dominicans will benefit from these projects. EVerywhere you turn there is some construction project which is a great thing as many pointed out. NY4life, I think for DR to be the metropolis of the caribbean alot of libararies need to be added and motos need to be regulated along with people driving without headlights with a whole family holding on for life. The city has great bars, restaurants and night life but one has to take consideration of foreignors coming along with their kids. So, alot of family fun activities should be taken into consideration. Also development in other provinces would be a good idea other than Santiago. Another thing I would like to see taking a boom is the educational system for good sake this is a big big problem. Keep them coming.
