ateo, would you care to disclose the source of your data regarding unemployment in the USA and DR? i would be really curious to find out the chronology of your figures, since the REAL unemployment in the USA at present is closer to 16%, and the figure in the DR is a secret and a mystery.

dread,
ateo got his info from wikipedia on his laptop while tapping into a wifi connection at a fancy resort.

Exactly, ateo! As long as you know how to take care of yourself and know what you are supposed to eat then you are gravy!

RE: Boom in Santo Domingo!!!
These pictures are drafted from the other thread but since they form part of Santo Domingo's boom then I decided to post them here:

Since infrastructure is also part of a boom, here are the pics!:

Your parents.... Thank you... you answered my question... you are one of the lucky ones in DR. your life would not be so easy if your parents were not paying everything. Now I know. FYI... I went to college in USA and paid for all of it even have a master degree... I worked and went to school at the same time. Not all Dominicans are doing bad here in USA bro

First of all I want to congratulate you! I grew up in NYC and I too have a degree but we must be realistic and know that statistics show that most Dominican Americans do not finish college and are not well to do. I have witnessed here in DR even young poor girls from the campos have such a desire to progress that they come to the city to work as maids just so that they can pay for their books and put themselves through college. Meanwhile in the USA there are so many opportunities and our youth just do not know how to take advantage of them. If there is one thing I am proud of is of the desire of youth here on the island to progress no matter what are the circumstances. Yet we must be carefull to speak about those of us living in the states, just because statistics show one thing does not mean we are all labelled the same! I would say the majority of our people in the USA are hardworking people but the youth there as in most latin americans in the USA is pretty lost and needs awakening.

Thanks, you too... I agree with you. I am the only male in my entire family that finished college( I have family in Chicago, NYC, and NJ. I don't get it they work in regular jobs and have to work a ton of overtime in order to get a desent paycheck. They buy a nice car and think that they made it. They are living for today and not thinking about the future. As long as they have money for the car, drinks, and going back to DR trips then they feel good. But we need more to become leaders because latinos are becoming the majority and we need some Dominicans in power
